Hi John,
I enjoyed your "Happy Days" football extravaganzas. Where would we be without sports, eh? We have the CFL up here in Canada, but I've never been drawn to it for some reason. However, I love to watch the NFL games on Sunday afternoons, and Monday nights, often Thursday nights and the odd Saturday, too. My favorite team is the New York Giants. We always had an NFL pool when I was still working at Moosehead Breweries. You just had to pick the winning teams each week, and points added up to the end of the season.. Then, of course, we threw the teams in a hat, and draw out a team for the playoffs. Lots of fun, our own camaraderie at work. But I've been retired for over 13 years now, and all my buddies, too. Of the newer crowd in there now, sports don't seem to matter. There are no pools for the NFL, NHL, MLB, PGA, or even Nascar. I miss it.
I recall the XFL. Can't get into it, though. I have three Toronto Maple Leaf hats, and an Auston Matthews jersey, too. (But I seldom wear the jersey anymore.) LOL.
Thanksgiving and football... they go hand-in-hand, don't they?

What a lovely story, John. And when I saw myself with a six left, I thought I would come searching for you, as I knew you would have a treasure for me to love. And as always, you did not disappoint. I love football, but I loved it even more that it was your kids playing it. How awesome of a neighborhood that liked your lead that the kids started and it started a six year tradition.
As great as those are to remember, I sometimes find myself saying, "wasn't that just yesterday, tho?" That part is not so much fun, when reality slaps you in the face and reminds you that time has been running when it was supposed to walk. . But nonetheless it sounded like a lovely time then, and how cool that your sons both ended up as chefs. Dad must have had some vibes rubbing off on them. I bet you are a great cook. I know my husband, Glen does about 75% of it here. He calls himself a bull-chef.
It was a delightful story and I hated to see it end. Gosh it has been good to come here and see you a little more too. Just a little more eyesight with time, so I am counting the blessings as it is so nice to finally read a few of your awesome posts lately.

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I only had two of my boys, only one has a family, home for Thanksgiving. The other two too far away and one of them is a chef and is busy this time of year. Anyway, my point, I'm always amazed at when brothers come home instead of grown adults when they get together, they revert back to teenage brothers. LOL Yes, we had our football game which included three-year-old and five-year-old little girls. Grandma was included along with a dachshund. LOL I enjoyed reading.

I loved your fun poem. My family has never physically participated in playing football like yours in the story. However, the tv has to be tuned in to the most anticipated game of the season.

Thanksgiving was great. Our daughters family drove up from Maryland and Jackson (5yr old grandson stayed the weekend).
