The photo of the cat in the hat is way cute. This free-verse poem points out that the repercussions of free agency and choosing include giving in to or resisting natural urges and moral/religious ethics. Consequences might include guilt or being accused of something we did or did not mean to do. Congratulations on a third place win.

Thank you for sharing this contest entry with us. Yes, I often wonder why we make the choices we do. Life would be easier if we made a few different ones. Good luck with the contest.

Interesting poem which ponders the dilemma of choice. Once chosen one must stay the course or maybe not. Life can certainly provide a lot of choices and resultant decisions. But, will we ever really know why we chose what we do. All the best in the contest.

Maybe not why, but at the instance of decision most likely we had a hint.

It is amazing how our imagination and dreams can take us down virtual rabbit holes . You just never know where you will end up. This was fun and a tribute to your talent. Gretchen

Thankyou very much for this very pensive looking kitten wondering about how and why her mind goes in circles .And at times the kitten becomes very human in thoughts...

This photograph is as cute as they come. I can see why you were drawn to using it. Mental puzzlement is well-expressed throughout this excellent poem.-- Personally, I have actually sighed over something I did, and then desperately wished I could have a remake. Other times, however, I wind up smiling in the wake of some kind of unexpected action. Like you have written, life is full of ying and yang choices and experiences.

Kinda raw there fella. If people knew what floated around in my brain, there would be a mass exodus for the hills. This is well-written. I would not attempt to explain my thought process. Karen

I got lost for a moment in this captivating picture. I had to decide to keep staring at it or read your poem. It seems even a cute kitten in a hat cannot beat reading your work.
Enjoy life and let your dreams take you to unrestrained pleasure as trying too hard as to why decisions may also make one hesitant to make a decision. Wresling with decisions maybe from fear of being judged, or you know the decision maybe the wrong one.
I for one love improv theatre raunchy or not.

Captivating, I knew it would be, however I was hoping the reader would see the confusion presented by the cat's expression. It must have been in the position to make a decision and didn't know which to choose. :-)

I see your point, but she is just so damn cute.

So many contradictions within us. We want to do what is right and make wise choices but frequently let ourselves down, and then have regrets. I like your honesty in the exploration of this theme.

You had me at this stunning and gorgeously cute visual image! I then enjoyed your exploration of contradictions and confusions that people experience. It reminded me of the cartoon character with a little cartoon angel on one shoulder and cartoon devil on the other, both whispering into the main character's ear to try and influence his choices. Thanks for the share and good luck for the contest!
