This is amazing poem in honor of Ian and the brother/sister bond so precious and rare in this world. I've lost four of my five brothers, and my parents, so I know this stinging loss. It's life altering. Thankfully, in my faith I believe it's not the end, but a pause for now. Beautifully written and illustrated treasure for the memorial book, my friend.

Sending you my best today as always, dear Jess.

Thank you so much for your comforting words, Jessica, it is lovely. I especially loved the last stanza and these words above all....
They become our destination

That is such a wonderful way to put it. Our journey going forward towards our loved ones, is just lovely. Thank you. The words mean so much to me.

Love Sandra

When we love another person, we cannot admit that it might end. Love knows no limits, and never weakens.

I thought this had a well developed interesting style, you handled the free verse expertly. There was this melancholy about the voice that was perfect for the theme, and the wafting, wavering rhythm of the lines also worked to create this uncertain, wavering landscape of feelings that you get when someone you love passes out of your life. I thought you really articulated that sense of loss, that sense of becoming unanchored, of almost being lost. I also really liked the ending. They stay in our journey, they become our destination. That really says it all: we cling to our memories throughout life, and we hope to reconnect in another world when this one is gone. Hats off to you, my friend. estory

I like the ending paragraph:
They stay
in our journey
They become
our destination
They are
eternally ours.

People have sweet memories. It is nice for everybody involved to remember those fond memories.

Thank for sharing

Similar events in my poem:
Soul Mate
I couldn't agree more that some share a link that time, even death, can't change.
Your work here is beautiful and poignant.
Thank you for taking the time to share it with us

When I read your comments I then understood what the poem was about. This is a very commendable poem regarding the fleeting time we have on this earth and the loss we feel when a loved one leaves us. They will always be with us in our memories.

I hesitated to review this since the subject and intended audience are not people I know, butI found these lines very moving:

"They shift
entire worlds
with their absence
an empty expanse"

Very moving, very true, and very well done.

Jessica, this is an astounding poem of comfort for a lost loved one, in this case, we are coming out in support of Sandra, which I'm sure she will find great comfort in.
Beyond Sandra, we can all relate and appreciate your well written poem of hope beyond the grave.

Take care,
Rhonda

Jessica, this is a beautifully written poem in support of Sandra. Thank you for writing it. I, too, have lost my only sibling, a younger brother. Your words do capture the emotions and feelings that I encountered. Well done. Terry.
