What a REALLY good read this is. Thank you, as a Jewess, myself, for helping to stamp out Anti-Semitism by explaining how we all "people" before we are Protestants, Catholics and/or Jews. People with families and pride and purpose. When a group is whitewashed and their personal, individual selves disregarded, that's when serious problems arise.

This pretty well meant trouble for anyone non Catholic. Look at what happened to the Native American children and their culture: "Everyone was Catholic." This has heart warming parts toit. Well written.

Thank you Liz. At the time, it was a blue-collar neighborhood in Massachusetts, with no violence. We were all the same religion and in some cases, nationality.

what an interesting post. I've not known very many Jews. I worked with a gal in school who was a teacher, but she didn't practice her religion. Like most people I suspect, I have prejudices. I wish I didn't, but I do. I have a hard time understanding why the Jews are so hated. It doesn't make sense to me, but hatred seldom makes sense. I believe that God chose the Jews as his people, and I want to support them where I can. There is so much division in the world now, it's easy to see that the enemy of our souls is hard at work trying to divide and conquer. Thanks for sharing this gal. Oh, thanks for sharing about the rocks on the graves too. I remember the scene at the end of Schindler's list where all the people put rocks on his grave.

Yes, the world is a funny place and not always a very easy place to be. At the moment it's in a very bad way. I will keep well out of politics. I only have one comment though. All Christians and Muslims descend from the Jews. The fear has always been there. Thanks for sharing this fine piece. Ulla:)))

My husband has a silly little rhyme to remind those who hate the Jews that if it wasn't for Jesus, they too would be Jewish.

My mother was English, born in England and my father was born in Russia, but raised in Cairo...(Long story)
I went to church on Sunday, and with my Babushka, I went to the Synagogue on Friday Nights.
My parents decided all three girls needed to decide for themselves.
My husband is Jewish....

When he died, we took his memorial stones to Israel since we were going to be there for a couple of weeks and placed them in various sites including the Wailing Wall. I'm glad you are are able to bring to our attention the incredible amount of contributions our fellow immigrants from the Jewish community have on our country.
