This is such a lovely and relatable verse which reminds us of that very memorable moment when all the study, pain and angst suddenly come to fruition with Graduation Day. A time for change and to fly off, using your excellent imagery. For parents, a time of reflection and pride, tinged with a little sadness, perhaps. Very nicely done, Verna, in your heartfelt, well rhymed verse. Thanks for sharing, Debbie

Your poem is a reflection of life. Eventually we find our way, hopefully. Along the way sometimes our future changes as life goes on due to unexpected events. Your poem makes the reader think. I like that.

Mmmmm. What parent doesn't love these words? You captured the perfect balance of childhood delights versus fears and insecurities and then ended with the perfect cherry on top. Congrats to the girl who scaled the wall! No small feat, to be sure!! Well done, Mystery Contestant!! xoxo

This is very pretty, and the timing is perfect. As a reader, I enjoyed a subtle and nice surprise at the end. This is an excellent poem for the challenge. Your presentation is very good. You use expressive words and colorful imagery to which readers will relate.
Best wishes,

This is really enjoyable and I did not see that final line coming! I enjoyed your disciplined metre and the rhyming was effective as well. Clever use of the picture to aid with the misdirection of the reader also! Well done and good luck for the contest.

A lovely poem about growing up and striving to figure out what 'success' means. Then without knowing it, achieving it by graduating.
The monarch at the end was a beautiful touch. ..also being a creature that has "become" without really meaning to, so now it can fly. Just like the graduate.
Good luck!

I love butterflies, but I never suspected tht ending! You are a Master Storyteller, and a great poet, too! The contest stipulated, "Be creative" and you far exceeded that point!
