This nonet, Our Backyard Possum, has the proper formatting and takes the truth about what opossum do to escape predators and uses it to elude explanations.

Thank you for the great review and generous stars, Bill. I appreciate it, friend.

I love the way you followed the nonet prompt. It tells a story, and it's clever (and yet sad) use of double entendre.... "playin' dead" "plain dead." It's a relatable poem, also, since I know several friends who love their local possums.

Thank you for the great review, Aiona. I really just wanted to come up with something that was going to be different. Plus, a friend of mine actually saw a poor possum in the road while we were on the phone and that's what I said about it, 'playing dead.' I told her I was going to use that in a contest and sure enough, this contest came up the same day. Lol. I couldn't pass it up. I'm glad you liked this little piece. Thank you again.

LOL! I love the serendipity of its creation, although sad for the poor possum. Inspiration comes in the most amazing places, doesn't it?

Yes it does. Lol.

HAHAHAHAHAHA! Yep, him and his squished guts are out there in the middle of the pavement playing possum!! (Did she believe you?)
Fun entry --and gawd knows it's memorable!! So, I hope it does well for you, Mystery Contestant. xo

It was actually someone I was talking to on the phone. They saw a smashed possum and that's what I said, 'playing dead.' Lol. I gave thought to using a more disgusting picture and gross everyone out but decided against it. Haha. Thank you for the awesome review and stars, Rachelle. I'm glad you had a chuckle. That's all I was going for. Have a great rest of your weekend.

Ahhh, so sad. I feel that way whenever I see an animal lying alongside the road. Good parents try to console their unset children at such times, and then will say whatever is needed for the situation.
