This is a very nice post for that favorite tree of my pre-teen years where in the summer, I would climb that tree and read a book!

Thanks Teri. I think the title would have been best penned as, 'Weeping Waterfall' I will change once the contest is over.

What is there not to love here?

I love the willow which often decorates cemeteries because its swaying foliage clearly evokes a sense of sadness. And I love gloomy.

I love the reference to a waterfall .. the slender branches fall downward and its foliage resemble tears , and the swaying movement recalls the ebb and flow of the sea.

PS I read the poem firstly below the contest page and I loved it.

Then I came here ...

I wasn't surprised to see you wrote this lovely poem .

Just letting you know (as one reviewer has just recently politely pointed out for me) that the couplet has to end with "tree" as the end word. Perhaps you could swap the two lines around (as I did)? What a beautiful accompanying visual image you've chosen to illustrate your words. The water motif is also echoed very nicely through the words "flowing" and "cascades". Lovely writing!
