Jim. I'm sorry I missed the last half dozen - dozen or so chapters. Work has kept me extremely busy and my time here on FS was not only limited but had me in different directions.

You're a gifted writer and storyteller. The first 80% of the book I was completely immersed. Sorry I sank on the last 20. I'm also behind on two other writers novels. I'm not one to jump in and BS my way through a review simply to grab the $$$, that's not fair to the writer or their time and efforts. I hope you accept my apology.

I'm looking forward to your poems, essays and stories going forward.

Be well, my friend.
John

No worries, John. I thank you kindly for whatever you were able to read and review. Also for your kind words and the 6 stars. Your work has to be more important, and I'm sure you do the best you can in your spare time.

It's been just one year since I joined FanStory, and it's been friends like you who have made this one of the most enjoyable years of my life.

Are we getting a little naughty now that we're into the final chapter, Jim? LOL!

I'm sad this has ended - when you get into the habit of reading something good and then it's over, a part of you is disappointed.

You mentioned writing short stories; perhaps one that gives us Art Calvin's story.

Congratulations to you, Jim, for seeing this through and giving us a different kind of story. Setting it in different ages helped to tell us not only the history of the game, but where it may be going (or not going) in the future.

The simulators had just enough explanation to make them realistic without it interrupting the flow of the story.

I think you did a great job here, and I wish you luck in publishing it. A lot of successful writers are self-publishing through Amazon now, as it allows them the freedom to tell their story as they want, and also pick any art for the book.

Look forward to reading some of your poetry again:-)

What a wonderful, thoughtful, insightful review, Pam. Thank you so much for the 6 stars and for staying with this story from the beginning. It means a lot to me to have faithful readers like you, and I'm going to miss posting it as much as you might miss reading it. I've always enjoyed your reviews, and you helped spark many of my direction changes throughout the course of the story. I'm very grateful for your support throughout, my friend.

It's been a great journey Jim, and I'm glad all the connections seem to be a figment of Arthur Calvin's alter ego, it's probably got some way to go in it's development my friend, I can see you revising it. Beautifully written, an excellent post and series, congratulations, blessings Roy

Great job, Jim! It took a lot of work to finish novel and you made it interesting for even me - a non-golfer who has no interest in the sport. But you told it well and that says a lot about your writing!
Please keep us posted on how the publishing progresses!

Great ending! You pulled off getting a non-golfer to enjoy an entire book about golf. Your characters were a lot of fun and their situations were interesting.

Thank you Carol. I really appreciate that and the 6 stars too. You have been with the story from the beginning and I am most grateful for that. I have loved getting the perspective from a non-golfer like yourself.

An overall rating for the task you accomplished. Well done. Certainly an exercise in creativity and a love for the game. Keep the FS followers up to speed on the adoption of this story by the proverbial 'golf gods'. Great job.

Thanks very much, Kevin, for your fine review and the 6 stars. We'll see what the golf gods have in store for it. They'll probably just tell me to publish it myself and put it on Amazon.

Finally a finale! I awarded you seven stars, but removed one for your disgraceful double entendre! I noted throughout your obsession with redheads - wish I didn't understand that so well!

I do hope that this becomes a published work. It is full of imagination and wit - but also packed with well researched technical knowledge. The characters, although multiply rehashed, are charming and sympathetic. The dialogue always flows naturally and has wit and humor.

I would certainly buy this book, but only if you sign it for me!

Very best wishes and good luck with this venture.

Paul

Couldn't resist one more double entendre to try to get your goat, Paul, and it only cost me one star!

You have been a faithful and most enjoyable reader for a long time now, Paul, and I really appreciate all your input and your thoughtful and humorous reviews. I'm going to miss you next year, but I can keep sending you some stuff from time to time, as I hope you will continue to send me yours.

Thanks very much for this great review and the 6 stars too!

I want to be a fly on the wall when your wife works out your desires for another woman!
Keep in touch over the progress of your 'book', Jim.
I suppose, I must conclude with a passing remark over your great invention: "It's golf, Jim, but not as we know it!"

That is going to stick in my mind forever!

Hi Jim. Special request from Paul.
First please confirm that my music files all opened, especially the mp3s. If so, you are alone are able to receive them (in the States) and I wonder if you would be amenable to sending them on to some of our dearest mutual friends?
I will sooner or later send you ALL my music to say thank you.

That's very kind, Jim. I will need to get their permission first. I'll come back to you tomorrow.

My novels are always mapped out before I begin writing and then as I write they take on a life of their own. I'm not surprised this one did too. You did a great job writing it and I hope you find a publisher.

That was a far out of story that only did you get science fiction and there you also got science that's pretty cool. I think you should invent the soup and become most major golfer dude on the planet. Excellent story, very well done.
Esthetics sentence structure subject matter. It's a very cool story I like it quite a bit. It is worthy of the big one for the final chapter of your story! Awesome job!

As Jesus said with His last breath: "It is finished" and from there His torture ended.
IN your notes you note being a pantser??? I found no definition, so clear that point.
Good luck in your ambition to be published.

Tom

Not sure who originally coined the phrase, but it describes someone who writes "by the seat of his pants" as opposed to a plotter who has the whole plot outlined from the start and rarely deviates. The author Stephen King and many others describe themselves as "pantsers" because they never know quite where their novels will take them until they begin writing them. They let the characters determine the path.

For this one, I started with a vague outline, but it changed quite a bit as I got into the story. In most of my other stories, I had NO idea where they would go when I started out, so there are varying degrees of pantserness.

Thanks for your wonderful support throughout, Tom. You stuck it out from the beginning.
