This poem, The Rules of Life 217-228, basically come down to the observation that being truthful keeps life easier to ride through without being slowed down with deceit.

Thanks for reading my stuff. That is why I call my nostalgia, "Mostly true stories". The past is remembered through the veil of time. We are constantly reorganizing it. Lies slow you down, and ultimately service no one. When, someone asks if they look fat in that dress. I try to ask a question back instead of out right lying. With that gorgeous color who will at anything but your lovely face? Does it come in my size? Not lying, but adjacent. :-) Karen

I like this upbeat, positive treatise about the aging and the infirm, but really we're just simply aging children, our dreams and aspirations, may have morphed into what buggy we use from what was once a Harley or a Maserati, but still still basically the same, beautifully written, blessings Roy

Color me completely confused. I have been unable to read your work. I was muted. What happened?

This is a really humorous list, and also great advice. Everyone should follow these principles for a happier life.

I like crime and mystery movies, and I watch a lot of TV news, so I have to close out my evening with a sitcom. I also occasionally look at comedians on You Tube. Life has to have fun and laughter.

For good nice comedians, you can't beat Kathleen Madigan, Jim Gaffigan, Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall, Jo Koy, John Mulaney, Ryan Hamilton,
Nate Bargatze, and Harith Iskander. There are more, but that should get you started. :-)

Hahaha very funny. Love the ending in which you were called "pretty annoying". I'm sure people think that about me much of the time. I enjoyed reading this. You have put a smile on my face!

That is one of my jobs. Since by body rarely cooperates in the fashion I would like, I orked to find how I could best help. Writing is good, although publishers as of yet are blind to my fine qualities! hahahaha On here, I found friends to talk to, people to help with their stories, free stuff to read, and people to cheer up. People ask my advice! I am in pre-heaven! I love it here. It helps with my pain a lot. And better than that I can't imagine. Blessings to you and yours. Thanks for the read. Karen

A great post. So many chuckles here. Most enjoyable. And then you top it off with a tribute to one of the greatest movies. I used to give my classes a break and put it on when we were studying Of Mice and Men. Just a masterpiece.

Along with Lonesome Dove,(The miniseries), Fried Green Tomatoes, Steel Magnolias, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Bridge on the River Kwai, The great escape, The dirty Dozen, Galaxy quest, The trouble with Harry( with my look a like Shirley Maclaine) I think I'm gonna go watch it again. :-) Karen

Thank you for cheering us up with these humorous anecdotes. And you're right that we old people have a lot to share so I hope we can leave a legacy of wisdom and joy.

This one didn't come through my PM but I'm happy to have found it. You never seem to be running out of material, Karen. Another great offering. I can't choose, they're all hilarious. Well maybe, the last... Thanks for sharing Debbie.

I found a sentence somewhere, and flipped it. It still cracks me up. There was a comedienne Wendy Liebman, that did stuff like that. Hilarious.
thanks for the read and kind words. Karen

Words of wisdom here. And not just for seniors! I totally agree with your suggestions. Have tried a few already - and they work! Especially when they say I'm pretty...

Hello, Karen!
Goodness!
What a treat!
I so enjoyed reading your poetic offering of "common sense."
This passage deeply resonates with me:
"When you wear one face to some people, and another face to others, pretty soon you won't know what face is really you."
So... in my former life I earned a Bachelor's degree in sociology. The one sociologist who I deeply admired was Charles Horton Cooley, who developed the "Looking Glass Theory."
In a nutshell, Cooley maintained that we are three individuals wrapped up in one: When we look into a mirror we see the following:
1. The person we see in the mirror
2. The person others see in the mirror
3. The person we hope others see in the mirror.
Pretty interesting... Anyway, I thought of that theory as I read your well-crafted offering.

Thank you for sharing!

I would swear I already answered this. I believe people don't always see what we see. I was talking to someone and they mentioned my pretty red hair. I quit dyeing my hair 10 years ago. Twilight Zone time. Think on that this weekend!hahahah Karen
