Gretchen, I think you have a really good little short story here. I have a suggestion for you to think about. It was not clear to me at the start that you were talking about a mall. It becomes clear in the 4th paragraph.
Think about adding a few words in the first paragraph...Pembrook Falls, is an outdated mall that needs my help.
I know you can do something better than my suggestion. But give it some thought. Terry.

Retail must be on its head these days. How in the world do they get people who are afraid of Covid, or being shot, return to the days of community of yesteryear, especially when shopping on line in your PJs is so easy?

Sometimes one just needs to act on their own impulses and not wait for approval from "higher ups" in order to achieve what needs to be done.

There is a lot to be said for the emotional response to doing things together as a family and being enticed by decorations and special sights and sounds - these make memories. Internet shopping doesn't bring the same pleasure. Makes one think.

I hate online shopping. Very cold. If you won't see someone, it makes sense. Otherwise, shop brick and mortar. Gretchen
