Hi Brett, I have to say I've never heard about Zits. It must be a totally American thing. I do follow along of American things as I'm half American, but I obviously miss out on certain thing. The world famous surrealistic painter, Salvador Dali was from Spain. Thanks a lot for sharing. Ulla:)))

Hello Brett,
wow, you really researched the heck out of this. I'm impressed by the effort that you went to, well done. In retrospect, I do recall reading Zits. It was never my favorite comic, but it had some things that I found funny. Thanks for sharing this.
Have a blessed day.

Whoa, this was a lot to read but well worth it. I enjoyed learning about Jeremy and his comic strip, "Zits." I don't read newspapers anymore but I would like to read some of what he called surrealism. I loved the description of that movement and wish I had been around to take part in it. Thanks for sharing his achievements and his biography of his parents, et al.

I enjoyed reading this. I never thought of a cartoon being classed as surrealism. I had to look up the strips on google to see what it was all about. I'd never read Zits, but I like it. Thanks for introducing me to it it.

I like that comment by Scott at the end. That's what comic strips should all be about - nothing related to the 6 o'clock news. Well, you certainly know your stuff here and have conveyed your research in a very engaging way. I'm not previously familiar with Zits but intrigued now to learn more (especially because the 6 o'clock news is so dire!). First line - suburb(a)n (depending how you intended it). Thanks Debbie

I would go with Scott. Give the reader a break from a rerun of world news and issues. There's a place for clever humour without incorporating news which often doesn't lend itself to comic strip type humour. Another well researched piece. You are doing a good job here.

I can't wait for family circus. I never quit got that cartoon/comic. It seemed so innocent but I'm sure I was just missing the undertones. These have been quite entertaining. Gretchen

I'm glad you explained about Jeremy's older brother, who I've only seen on one six or so featured strip. I have noticed there is a hint of wanting to deal with real problems, but I suspect I would enjoy the fun ones better.

I don't know what's best when it comes to adding the six o'clock evening news to a comic strip, but with that being said, what is more about real life than what happens throughout everyday. Thanks for sharing.

Always appreciate your support. Believe I would agree to keep the news out of the comics. Should be two separate entities.
