Certainly the beginning caught my eye, and the imagery created brings home how the innocent ones suffer. The difference between Israel and Hamas can be summed up as how they hide behind the children and fire from playgrounds and hospitals.

Sorry for taking so long to reply to your thoughtful review. The situation in Gaza still haunts me and I am still in disbelief that the world is still just standing by allowing the massacre to continue.

This is beautifully written, conveying the terribleness of the war. Using the American National Anthem in reverse is a morbid but clever touch, and makes me think about it in a different light.

Well done poem indeed, and so powerfully and well said -- what's happening in the Middle East is horrible.
Your explanation in your notes about the golem is stunning too, and an education in and of itself.

Likewise... Hard to imagine...
You are very welcome.

Your poem reminds us how fortunate we Americans are to live free. Even with all our complaints about government and the economy. Who is more equipped to run this country the right or left. We still live in the best country in the world. God bless America.

Such anger, getting the point of this read, finding a creative twist on a nation's song. Good job. Not everyone is blind: they do see. Super shout, in my given viewpoint.

You have written a wonderful poem. It's a very complex issue in Middle East and always have. It's always terrible when innocents get caught up in the crossfire and they pay it with their lives. We live in a very troubled world. Ulla:)))

Brilliant poem. Great rhyme. Touching on the most important issues here, the death of innocence for a hopeless cause. Thanks you for having the strength to write this and I'm glad it has been well-received. The use of the Star Spangled Banner is so clever too. Just made me think of that amazing moment when Hendrix set fire to his guitar having destroyed the tune during the Vietnam War.

Thanks for writing about the destruction of the Gaza Strip. For years they have fought over land rights. Jews are Jews wherever they are. The ancient tribes of Israel were led out of the desert by God. Today, they have created a desert and broken every Commandment. Shalom.

First, the Ukraine, then Israel, and--unfortunately--I will not be surprised if Taiwan is next on the 'uncalled-for-attack on another country list'. War is an evil and malicious event. Those who thirst for it have no soul.
Your posting holds interest all the way through while, again unfortunately, scores of innocents continue suffering until the hatred stops.

Hi, a different perspective on the Middle Eastern conflict than you often see, but definitely worthy of note. Fighting dirty is fighting dirty, not matter which side you're on. I'm sorry to see children being victimized in order to make a point.
Your poem is well-written and definitely to the point.
Best of luck in the contest,
Rhonda
