I lived my entire childhood across the road from a 200-year-old cemetery!
I loved walking and wandering there, but... come Halloween, it always called me a bit of trepidation - especially with the specters of Captain Swarthout and his black stallion that were said to haunt that cemetery especially on Halloween!

Much enjoyed, Beth, and definitely "fun!"
I lived my entire childhood across the road from a 200-year-old cemetery!
I loved walking and wandering there, but... come Halloween, it always called me a bit of trepidation - especially with the specters of Captain Swarthout and his black stallion that were said to haunt that cemetery especially on Halloween!

Thank you Diane. I love roaming through old cemeteries too. I would avoid them at night, I've heard too many ghost tales. I enjoyed reading about your cemetery.

I enjoyed this festive romp in the graveyard! Funnily enough, I was thinking about the Monster Mash in the early stanzas only to see you reference it towards the end. This was a fun read - good luck in the contest.

Thank you for this nice review. I think the picture I used was from movie version of the Monster Mash. I thought about putting a video version of the song on there but I know exactly how to put into Fanstory. I'm glad you liked my poem.

There are plenty of videos of the Monster Mash song if you google it. I appreciate the review and comment. I think there are enough older people on here that do remember it.

Thank you Joan, I appreciate you reviewing and commenting on my poem. The Monster Mash does show our age but there is a lot of videos of in in Google. I should have included one for the younger generations benefit.

What a night! I don't think you could have got more energy and Halloween entertainment into your lovely verse, Beth. It rocked along with great rhyming pattern and rhythm (only the last line of the 4th stanza broke the flow, seeming to need another syllable beat which shouldn't be difficult to insert).
