My mother used to quote that and said it was a Chinese proverb lol. We certainly live in interesting times, things we took for granted have disappeared rapidly. Well done, Beth. All the best, Laura.

Thank you Laura. Some of the Google site say it is Chinese curse. Other sources say it is a curse but that it didn't originate in China. I appreciate the review.

I think it can really be a course depending on one's definition of the word 'interesting'.

Things are spinning out of control as we appeal to our lesser emotions of hate, anger , and war.

Sad times I would say.

Well the saying is a curse. I guess in this sense means that news of what is happening holds your attention but not in a good way.

This is a very well written, and presented ABC porn with a contest. I wish you the very best in the contest indeed, we do live in very interesting times, and there's so many things that are such a struggle for people right now. Patricia

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and wisdom in ABC form poetry. I would have to agree with all of this, especially the title: Living in Interesting Times.
Sending you my best today as always.

Thank you Sally, We never don't what we might hear when we tune into the news. All to often, the news is depressing but we have been warned of thing to come.

This poem has the correct structure for the ABC poem contest and expresses some poignant sentiments. The rhythm is OK varying from ten to eleven beats per line but I would not have understood the poem without the notes at the bottom as I was initially confused as to what curse you were talking about. I think, personally, that poems should stand on their own without explanation so I think that I would have tried to make it a bit more obvious as to what you were talking about. Good luck in the competition

Thank you Eleri, I read back over it, and realized there were a couple of lines with eleven beats. I made them all ten. As to the curse, I've heard it so it so many times over the years, I assumed everyone else had as well. I guess I was mistaken.

A very good use of the form and sentiments we can relate to at the moment. I've been a lifelong viewer of the nightly news, but it's hard to watch right now. Thanks for the share and good luck in the contest.

We are certainly living in bad times that continually seem to be getting worse all the time. How bad can they get before the good Lord steps in? I guess, we'll just have to wait and see. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, Ric. This was a bit pesimistic. I probably shouldn't try to write after listening to the news but things seem to keep getting worse.

This ABC poem, Living in Interesting Times, has the proper alphabetical formatting and suggests that the signs of the end days are becoming more pronounced with each new debacle.

A thoughtful and thought-provoking poem. Every few years, Israel finds itself in war. All different started by different players, yet the losses never change.
Well stated.
Best wishes,
Mary

Hi Beth, it is certainly interesting times we live in. But if you ask me, they are a bit too interesting for my liking. So I follow the news, and then I put it all behind me enjoying my life and the nature surrounding me.
I loved your well written poem. Ulla xcx

Thank you Ulla, They are too interesting for me as well. I try to stay positive and don't focus on them, but after an extra depressing news story, I couldn't think of anything positive to write about when I posted this.
