So pleased he has been exonerated and the truth revealed. Thankful that God helped him to escape so he wouldn't be hanged. What emotional drama. But God's ways are perfect, always, and He will choose the time and manner of Ben's death, not man. Well written.

This is beautifully expressed, Wayne. I already felt quite emotional when you described Ben "pinching back tears of joy." He's so humble and disciplined and bears his troubles and delights so stoically and with great dignity. Then Beth's traumatic experience provides him with the invited opportunity to share all that he has so bravely endured, not for himself but to provide inspiration and courage to others. Thanks for sharing this excellent read. Debbie

This is another excellent chapter. I am so glad Ben has been pardoned and his prison escape will not be on his record. I do not see any room for improvement. Have a blessed day.

Thank you for your nice review.
(Actually, he was exonerated, not pardoned.)

Finally some resolution for Ben in the murder case! So, Henry came through in a big way.
Now it appears there is a love interest in the offing. Will there be room in Ben's life for that? We'll see.

Thank you. I figured the news would please.

I wonder how many people can appreciate the reference to a Sears and Roebuck greenhouse; here in St. Augustine, we have a two-story home that was built from S&R mail order material.
The line, "I'm just the paperboy . . ." is a refreshing change from the overused "I'm just the messenger."
Euthanasia? How did I not get that? Because she didn't feed the child? I wouldn't starve a child though; maybe quicker, with a pillow. I know what the Christian answer to that is, but I don't see a need for a child to suffer.
I never expected a budding romance, but I like it!

Thank you. I hoped you would approve. What I feared was reviewers labeling me some sort of male, knight-in-shining-armor chauvinist where a man has to save the damsel in distress. (The book began 62 chapters ago with Ben saving Livvy from a drunk.)
I try to surprise. With a character such as Ben, it would be way too easy to be predictable.
A midwife would use a pillow, I'm sure. With full breasts and a starving-to-death baby, Beth was being eaten alive with guilt.

This is another good chapter. I'm relieved that the conviction against Ben has been resolved. Well there ever come a point at which God convinces me that he should have a helpmate in his wife? He seems attracted to women but he feels they have no place in his life,

Thank you.
Ben is back on track, following God one day at a time.

And the whole trial and prison saga was ok after all. Well done for taking me down all sorts of possibilities and then leaving me at the best one. Excellent stuff, as usual!

Thank you.
Yes, it was way better than being hung for something he didn't do.

Such a mixture of tragedy and trauma and guilt and healing. You carry the reader through it all even when it is an unpleasant journey. The end of the chapter leaves the reader hopeful and waiting for more. Please let me know when there is more of this story. I am out of 6 star ratings, by the way.
