This is another excellent chapter. You made Ben's journey quite creative. I do not see any room for improvement. I look forward to seeing what happens next. Have a blessed day.

Thank you for your kind review.

Lovely happy moments, Wayne. Things are looking up and you were right to have him escape from an unjust legal system and an unjust sentence. Well done and thank you.

Thank 'you'!
Still though, Ben doesn't feel good about it and he is troubled for quite some time.
Comment from Pam Lonsdale
Aha! I see we have a new character right out of the history books. I was surprised that Ben went for the escape, but he was dragged into the water and set on his way unwillingly at first, and perhaps that was God's hand. But what did he really accomplish in prison? Or was that just a place he needed to pass through to gain his freedom?
Luther Burbank, as in Burbank, CA?

He did a couple guys good. Tom Thumb, for one. He also had the opportunity to deal with a reprobate. Mostly, though, it set him up for the next part of his ministry.
I didn't want to stay in prison long enough to be guilty of a dozen cliche'd scenarios.
Thank you for your kind review.

I knew Ben's first reaction to the escape would be that he wanted to go back, but fortunately Tom talked him out of it.
Now he encounters another historical figure--Luther Burbank. I love it! That's such an interesting thing about this tale, Wayne. That was something I loved about Forrest Gump too.

Thank you. It was fun writing it. I just wish Luther had been a better Christian. His philosophy was religious questionable, at best. But I kept him true to character.

You are creative in coming up with unexpected twists and turns. I assume been feels God's plan was the escape. I hope is far enough away that no one will look for him there. I'm sure he will convert many wherever he is.

Thank you.
I felt that a more extended prison stay would only serve to hit the predictable cliche's.

I never know what's going to happen. What a joy that is. I wonder if Ben realizes how incredibly lucky he really has been in all this. I want to hear his conversation with God. I haven't heard one yet.

Thank you for your review.
Ben has never once considered luck involved, always the hand of God combined with a little horse sense. I've written some regarding Ben's prayer life over the earlier chapters, but now, Ben will suffer a bit of depression. It's not the way he imagined.
Comment from Carol Hillebrenner
Tom did good to save Ben as it was apparently God's plan. Ben mostly finds himself in an unusual position that is to his advantage. He has a new friend and a job and plenty of vegetables to eat.

I see you'll introduce us to another interesting historical figure. I like how everything came together when they just happened to find a boat and just happened to meet a friendly ex-prisoner like Fred. God always provides.

Coincidences trouble me when I read them. Here, I try to make them Divinely ordered (the female dog named Ben four years earlier). I didn't think it too incredible to have a row boat on the shoreline. (Maybe I'll add a story about someone who nets the bay shore for bait fish.)
Thank you for your very kind review.

It certainly looks like the Lord is watching over Ben, and he was meant to be in this time and in this space, as all those who follow the Lord are meant to be, I love rigs series, and for t some reason, I keep finding it. Beautifully written, blessings Roy

Oh that's good. He has accepted help and realised that God has provided a way out for him. His time is not yet over and men will not preempt God's will. Many evidences in this chapter of God's care and provision for all his needs. Well done.
Wendy
Edit: Some hours past as they ate ("passed". Also remove extra space.)
