That's great that Ben found a workaround to the warden's prohibition to preach. He can still preach by walking around and worshipping aloud.
Wonder who that mysterious Olsen was.
I can understand Ben's reluctance to pray for the man who had incestuous relations, not because he didn't think that sinner could be forgiven but it sounded more like he expected a blanket forgiveness to assuage his guilt. But I guess Ben could have preached to him to verify how sincere he was.

    Thank you.
I guess I need to make it more clear that the step daughter was very young. And that the man demonstrated no repentance or contrition at all.

I felt like the guy wasn't really sincere that's why Ben didn't give him the Good News. But then again, he did spend the night awake wondering if that was the right decision as we can't make that judgment.

Seems Ben better wise up or he may not live long in the prison.

Never had any sympathy for whatever happened to any convicts. They get what they deserve otherwise they would not be incarcerated.

Ben was saddened that he hadn't help the man get forgiveness and avoid hell.

Ben certainly isn't worried about being hanged, although it would be a sad way to end his preaching. He's found an interesting way to continue his preaching without being on his soapbox.

Enjoyable chapter, Wayne. Just weeks away from his execution and the odds stacked heavily against him, I wonder how he's going to get out of it. Hopefully Henry can pull a rabbit out of his hat and finally come through for him. Or perhaps it will be all the good he's able to accomplish in the prison that will make them see here's a man that should not be executed.

But then again, like Christ, he may choose to die for all the prisoners' sins.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this gets resolved. - Jim

Yes, I knew that about the prison ship. That has got to be the height of diminishing the inmates. Ben appears to be in high cotton. He is not suffering any ill effects of his incarceration. Good writing.

That would be a heck of a thing for Ben to live with! Gil did try to tell him that others were after him because of what he'd done.

So, Olsen was an angel sent to tell Ben how best to witness inside the prison?

This was a good set-up chapter for his work ahead in the prison. Of course, the warden isn't going to like it.

Have a good week ahead, Wayne. Are you home currently, or off to house sit? You need to find a gig in New England this time of year!

Take care,
Pam

    Thank you.
We were in Maine this time last year.
Lately, except for a VRBO mountain cabin get-away, we've been tending to 91 year old MIL issues.
Thank you for your kind review.
    Yes, Olsen was an angel.
Forgiveness and salvation weren't Ben's to give Gil. And Gil did not repent (as far as Ben knew).

I knew Ben would find a way around the order not to preach, and a testimony or singing isnot quite the same as preaching, but can have equally precious results. He will be faithful to the very end. A fine example to all about being strong and courageous and taking up one's cross.

Edit?: Should "Capitol then." be "Capital then"?

No, San Jose was California's first capitol city.

If we are in God, our mission field is wherever we are, whether it be in prison or the appointed mission, it is all the mission field, this is beautifully written Wayne, I love that touch, Tom Thumb with a broken finger that was healed, well done, beautifully written, blessings Roy
Typo : Forgiveness (if) not mine to give. Is?

Olsen must of been an angel sent from God give Ben idea of how to reach the other prisoners. I don't imagine a fellow prisoner who walk away through the wall, never to be seen again. I'm looking forward to seeing what is next for Ben.

Another great episode, Wayne, thank you. Of course Ben is going to spend his time in prison spreading the word. What else did I expect? Well done and I look forward to the next one.

The calling is 'in/on' him, not his location.
