This was an awesome haiku, Gypsy, your use of the eclipse was wonderful. Your words were special to me especially because they mention 'cancerous'. Very well done and greatly enjoyed. Blessed Be n Hugs!!!

Great metaphor for the cancer ward. I have been there and done that. I remember when I went through chemotherapy, breast cancer, and saw others there. I was hoping I didn't look like them, but I know I did. Thank you for sharing.

Hi MariVal,
such a powerful haiku with only fifteen words to amplify the intent... impressive!

I guess most of us by now have been touched in some way in the knowing of the 'cancer ward'. So to have the 'eclipse' to take away the light really painted a vivid picture... add the 'dark circles around her eyes', and now one sees the whole painting from a distance where everything become real and obvious.

Such a heavy impact achieved within this short form.
It has to be said... 'you move me with your words MariVal'.
This haiku delivered me straight to Jade's mother and my mother, both succumbing to the cruel ravages of cancer. The hospital, the ward, the room... the end.
But there is always light as soon as the shadows subside... and life goes on, as it should.

Stunning presentation and brilliant composition!

With our thoughts we create...
the beauty of time.

Warmest regards,
James.

    Hello, James,

I'm so happy to hear from you. I am sorry my haiku brought up sad memories but I'm glad you still like it. Haiku is supposed to touch the reader in some way.

Love the quote... and never be sorry for the brilliance you deliver with your craft.
Some memories for sure will bring sad reflections, but in their lies our strength of acceptance.. I love your poems and the emotion they evoke dear MariVal.

This reply goes well with my other poem, the end of day.

Thank you for being so encouraging and kind... always. May you have a wonderful day ahead.

So very good, and eclipse is a strong and apt metaphor for the cancer ward, and the poisoning of the body with chemotherapy.

Circle around her eyes a sorrowful sign.

Your presentation is paradoxical in its beauty.

Very well done.

Gloria

Awe. This was very sad. The connection between the eclipse and the circles around her eyes was brilliant. Sad to think about people going through cancer. Even the less threatening forms. It makes you wonder why your body turns against you. Gretchen

Yes, thankfully none in my family has gotten cancer, may be always that way. It's a perverse illness that ravages the patient and family.

Thank you very much for the excellent review and kind words. May you have a wonderful weekend.

Gypsy, this is a touching haiku about cancer.
I see people in the cancer ward, hoping to live, taking chemotherapy. One word: I read more people are surviving cancer every day.
A very beautiful poem.
Blessings, Cindy

Oh yes, it's a terrible thing to be diagnosed with cancer, it's possibly the worst thing that can happen to anyone, a great post, but a very sober one, considering the grim subject, well done, blessings Roy

The world is covered by circles due to the eclipse. But the cancer patient probably doesn't see the circles instead they are around her own eyes due to the effects of the chemo. Interesting juxtaposition of different circles.
