As a former church musician, I know there are times when a spirit takes over you and you become one with the music, floating on air. That is what I thought of with your explanation of being in a zone of freedom with your performance flowing. Your words allow me to almost hear you performing.

Gosh, this is SUCH a nice review. It feels so good when someone really "gets" what you're saying in this world. Thank you times a million zillion. xo
Were you the organist?
-
I was not an organist. I was a pianist and choir director for two choirs. I also accompanied my sister when she traveled and performed in concert. Prior to moving to Florida, I sold my piano because I wouldn't have room for it. I cried when they removed it from my house. Since I've been here, I've purchased an electronic keyboard. Okay. That's enough of my story.
-
I'm a private voice, flute and piano teacher and would be devastated if I ever had to see my instrument. I ache that you had to do so. Some of my students have them, and they are most unsatisfying...but definitely better than having no means of making music at all. Life is all about trade-offs, right? xoxo

I love this! It must be the greatest joy to be able to express oneself so powerfully in song. Your ten lines reflect a burst of musical energy infused with emotions and love that come from the heart in sheer G-d given gratitude! Immensely inspiring! Good luck! Debbie

I feel the same way about my writing. When I'm in the zone my poems come easily.
Great entry for the 10 Line Poem writing prompt contest. I like the presentation too. Good line count and connection between lines.

I appreciate this very much, Gypsy. Thank you! And I especially appreciate your mentioning the presentation because there was some serious glitch between Shutterstock --where I have a monthly membership-- and me, and getting that image to post? A NIGHTMARE!!! I was extremely frustrated. So your kind words felt like a balm. xoxox

Fits into the gratitude competition as well! This is a good little free verse poem and it gives good voice to your character and inspiration. Well done and good luck.

Nicely done. I remember when I sang acapella in the city choir. When we got in really good auditoriums and one hundred voices were singing who could deny the universe was not there with us? You explained your feelings quite well. Good job. Karen

What a really review this is. Thank you.
Comment from Paul Manton
You've come to the right reviewer! I trained professionally as a singer - after seven years as a semi-pro folk singer in the UK. So 'the buzz' of live performance with an enthusiastic audience, I know, is like absolutely nothing else! But unlike most popular singers or performers, I have also sung Mozart (and other classics) in Cathedrals all over Europe, including many times at Salzburg.
No doubt in my mind that G-d should take the credit for the gifts He gives us to share. The closest connection I have to your poem is the more intimate solos, especially Gospel music - then love is really at the center of everything. I always say, when I am singing like that, I am the closest to heaven I can get so far.
Thank you. I hope your singing never stops.
Paul

This review reminds me of my all-time favorite movie quote: "But enough about me; what do YOU think about me?"
-
Apologies for being a responder. I'm happy to rewrite this for you if you would like me to. I thought at the time that I was doing what you said. I'm just as enthusiastic about music as you.
So, apologies, and request a rewrite if you wish.
Paul

Oh gosh, no. It think it's hilarious.
-
Glad your sense of humor is as daft as mine. Hard not to be enthusiastic about something you love so much.
Have a great weekend. Paul

This one's a duplicate.
-
Well, yes, but intentionally so. I chose that rather than "Yes! We're all but twins our humor is so similar!" But since you felt the need to 'correct' me, I'll share my original thought.
-
I'm sorry. I'm completely lost now.
Please let's call it a day.
Best wishes for the weekend.
