Once again, your conversation flows nicely. I've noticed that in all your writing. Dialogue is your forte. One more chapter to go, which I imagine will be about the wedding, and then we get to go off in another direction.

Good work, Jim,

Jay

Thanks so much, Jay. I always read the story out loud to my wife a couple of times, and she tells me if something sounds off in the dialogue. She'll tell me, "Nobody would ever say that." We argue about it, and she often convinces me, (not always, though). Then I'll rework it until we're both comfortable with it. It's a good system.

Where we often disagree is on the raunchier parts of the dialogue. She often thinks they are over the top and unnecessary, but I usually stick to my guns on those because they amuse me. I'm not writing this for prudish old ladies, but mainly for guys.

Aww. Everybody happy. Romance in the air and peace and love between the players. What more could one ask for? Great stuff, Jim. Thanks as always.

Thanks so much, John. One more to complete Part 2, then it's on to Part 3 which will take a major turn in the action. Still 1/3 of the way to go in the story.

I'm glad that the tournament ended so amiably! And even the Snogs will come to celebrate Kirk and Aggie's wedding! But I wonder what will happen with the military service and if that's going to lead to another time travel back to the future?

Excellent speculation, Helen! (or did you get a hold of my manuscript somehow?)

Thank you for this continuing saga, Jim. With its organisation into several sections it is most intriguing and certainly holds the interest. Go, gowther, go!

Thank you, Julie. This one lent itself well to a multi-part structure due to the different time travels.

This is a fun chapter as they all just talk and have a wonderful time at the tavern. You do a very good job of making dialogue very natural and logical for the characters.

Thanks, Carol. That comes from reading it out loud to my wife who gives me great input whether or not something sounds like natural dialog. She is a good sounding-board for me. I've read that tip often--that you should read your dialog out loud for how it sounds.

    I read it all aloud.

Jim,
A good summation to the match tournament, including the awaited wedding announcement and of course the freely flowing ale.

I guess the next chapter will include the wedding and set the stage for the next era in golf's development.

I'm looking forward to it.

Cheers to the victors!

You are right on with your guesses, John. So glad you're enjoying it. I have recently finished the book, and I think Part 4 is actually my favorite part in the story.

What a good tale you tell Jim, I love this story, Kirk and Aggie are going to be made as one, because that's the way they should be, there friends are invited to celebrate their oneness, you certainly know how to spin and combined golf and a love story like no one else. Beautifully written, blessings Roy

Chapter 31 - doesn't seem possible, does it?

Kirk and Aggie get to marry now, and all's well that ends well. One more chapter, which I'm sure will be the wedding. Then we're off into another year and different characters?

Exactly so. We'll be taking a significant turn in the feel of the story with Parts 3 and 4 from these first two parts. I hope you will find them enjoyable, Pam. Part 4 especially was my favorite part to write. I just finished it a few days ago.

Another well-told tale, Jim. The 19th Hole! And who could not enjoy such bonhomie? Great to see the opponents welcomed in every way as equals and worthy of your friendship and respect.

We are excited about the (long overdue) upcoming marriage of Kirk with Aggie - and I imagine that this will be the subject of the concluding chapter of Part 2.

[There might be a mini typo 'stuffed with a pail of goose feathers . . ' looks like a 'pair'?] But nothing else, just a good firm narrative we can't put down.

Next time, I will sing it: "Here comes the bride . . ." but possibly that's an anachronism!

Best from Paul

Thanks, Paul. No, it actually is a pail of goose feathers. Somehow when they are wet, they really compress down. Either that or it was a very small pail!

Wow! Thanks Jim. Completely new to me. You mean a bucket? Or a technical term?
reply by the author on 20-Sep-2023
Yup, a bucket! They didn't say how big, though, and I'm sure it's just the down feathers and not the bigger, coarser kind.
reply by Paul Manton on 20-Sep-2023
A bucket. I turned pale when I red that.
    You can tell it's late!

The wedding is coming up and very soon. I enjoyed reading this chapter. I enjoyed reading the comparison of the different philosophies on the different styles of play. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Thanks, Barbara. These differing philosophies will have an important role in Part 4's determination of the future of the game.
