An old farmer knows that his life must end, and although he will do all he can to stay alive, we know that sometime, perhaps even this year, his life will end, his family will mourn him.

What a fantastic haiku, Gypsy. I guess everything has to say goodbye to something. In this case it is the strawberries that wish the farmers goodbye. Blessed Be n Hugs!!!

It is so very sad when nature/weather makes it so hard for the farmers, that they must give up their lifetimes work, very well written and presented****kahpot

Maybe I took this too literally. Or it just could be that I'm in the mood for Halloween. The last line did it for me. Lol. Thanks for sharing this. Gretchen

LoL I'm happy to be a Halloween fan with you. My grandson loves it too. He loves the front yard monsters decorations.

nah... farmer's life doesn't really end, just goes into a winter rest lol :)
i am not sure "waves" is really the right word for this... maybe whistles?
it also could be just me LOL!!
nice haiku with sweet pics
thank you for sharing

Wind waves goodbye is an important imagery I intended. Whistles is not the right word for my intent.
The farmer dies as the strawberries is the juxtaposition...it shows the connection between all sentient beings in nature.
Death and end of crop juxtaposition is intentional.
Thank you very much for your excellent review and kind words.

I like your haiku poem- nice picture presentation- good flow - good syllable count - story about strawberry season ending and framer going on vacation now that his job is done - good job - AP

That's sad. But we all are given our set time to live from strawberries to human lives which can be brief or into the hundreds. But we can try to do our best to bear the best fruit when living.

Yes, in most countries this is true, but do you know that we have strawberries most of the year here in Spain? I eat them at breakfast time every day.
I loved your haiku. Ulla xx

Yes, I know in some climax strawberries grow year round. We don't have them in winter.
