In Notes "became" should be because.
If she visited so often perhaps she was a lonely old lady who needed a friend as much as the little girl did. At least they seemed to hit it off well even if the child's parents did not much care for the spinster.

Beautiful Poem! I enjoyed the read of this poem. Older people do need
friends as the author states. I pondered on the author's memories of this
wonderful woman who gave a child her time and had fun too! I see it
today with my grandchildren who I enjoy very much. The poem flows and

Beautiful Poem! I enjoyed the read of this poem. Older people do need

I truly loved this poem. Although yours is an entirely different story, it reminded me of my mother after my father passed away. She loved to sew and would buy naked (or raggedy) dolls from the Salvation Army story and make clothes for them. Soon she had little girls visiting from down the street who came to play with her dolls. They loved changing the many outfits my mother had made. Sometime they would all have tea. But back to the beautifully written poem you have submitted for this contest... I think it is a winner and I thoroughly enjoyed every metric line and every perfect rhyme, but mostly I enjoyed the story you told. Thanks for sharing this. ~ MM

I find it so strange that when someone reads another writers work and they see an error that they never mention it.
I always do because I want the poem, especially for a contest, to be the very best it can be. I review everything I read.
