Stan, what a tender chapter, written in your usual engaging style. You often start out a bit distant, and quickly pull us into the intensity of your message. You make us feel while you tell your story.

The Lord does move in mysterious ways, and He seemed to be drawing you into a ministry, whether it was the one you pictured or not. Thanks for taking us along on the ride.

Take care,
Rhonda

This is a beautifully written story, and it kept my full attention all the way through as I listen to it being read to me. God does use us in strange in different ways no matter where we've been or what we have done he will always put us in a place where there are those who feel they have done so much worse than we have ever done. But in God's eyes, I'll send it as in not just some sound. I am so thankful that I am saved and that I know the Lord Jesus Christ is my savior as well. What a wonderful testimony you have here. Patricia

I liked reading this. I know it's not a movie script, but it was well-written as if it were a movie happening. Content merits 6 stars. There are some little fixes throughout, but I will just point out a few:
On one of those ho hum days, I found myself driving down the road on the way to work praying.
I would add a comma after work.

"God steer my life where you want it.
I would put a comma after God.

Have you heard the verse, "'Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls."'
Maybe say:
Have you heard the verse: 'Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls'?"

Guess there is nothing better than to see people who want to make positive changes.

Good story. Hope all worked out for the kids.
I landed in the city with my car and went up to the third floor - not sure what you meant to say other than you drove to town and took the elevator to your office.
There not from around here.- (They're)
but our habits rode with us. - needs closing quotes
"you go back to your mother and be nice now." - (You)
sometimes forgetting to breath. - (breathe) breath is a noun
"I've gotten some better," She said. - ("she said) lower case

Appreciate what you tracked down and made the notes to change it. Some nagging bad habits of mine are encroaching on my writing again. Much like my golf game goes.

This is an extraordinary story detailing the beginning of a ministry with a family dealing with many social ills. Even though you were amazed at the task the Spirit lead you to, you handled it quite well. You gave the family comfort during a desperate time of need. Your open honesty about your thoughts and feelings is commendable and makes the story relatable. You chose a most fitting title.

There are several typos and missing words throughout. Another good edit should clear them up.

Thank you for sharing this with us. I am sure it was difficult to write. God is always in charge.

spiritual tug of war (we've all been there)

We sat down on the chair (you can omit 'down' it's understood)

"Listen her boy," He said it in that southern accent. "you go back to your mother and be nice now." (lower case 'h' on 'he')

Chris confessed. "We're not even married. (comm after 'confessed)

I pulled up a plastic chair and sat next to her. (sat beside her)

"I've gotten some better," She said. (lower case 's' on 'she')

Wow! Very difficult to write a review of such intense reality. Just thank you for sharing this and highlighting your faith in the meantime. I am in awe of people who can be so strong and forgiving.

Virtual six, my friend. This is a very moving story of the couple's/pastor's struggle. I understand having been in the ministry most of my adult life. I understand in all of life that Jesus must take residency in every person. To walk in the spirit is key with every person's need, I think, and only in Him can change come, whatever that change looks like. A powerful write, and just as important in 2023. Sending you my best today as always and blessings in Christ.

No doubt God sent you to do His will with this event. No need for schooling or some church to make decisions concerning your need. God knew how things would be before you got there. We serve the Lord, not some manmade church with rules toward having an education. Peter was a dumb fisherman, and even Jesus ministered from the Schroll. CAUSING the leaders to marvel in wonder of who taught him to read and write. All you need to do is obey God, He will do the rest. I am surprised that the Holy Spirit refrained from using you to heal the sick as He normally does. You could have cleaned out the entire ward leaving the doctors scratching their heads.
Sending blessing your way.
Been there, done that but in a different manner.

Wow, that was some answer to prayer! But you did the right thing - you followed through and did what God wanted you to do. I know that since you acted in faith, that God provided you want you needed to help this family! Thanks for sharing. Great verse, too. Our pastor talked about that today in reference to Nehemiah taking on the burden of his people but Jesus' burden is light.

I made notes. Always appreciate the editing help. I'm just upset with myself that I end remembering old habits and doing them again. Thanks!

It doesn't help that Autocorrect doesn't know the difference between the possessive and the contraction. So I wouldn't blame yourself too much.
