Beautifully written. I'm certain your post took a much different path than most "Rainbow" poems. This reminds me of the old time western songs...
Very nice! I even have a melody in my head and can (quietly) sing this ballad.

I could see this as a ballad. Too bad you didn't enter this in a contest for a poem that tells a story. A twist of sorts with the ending as Sandra literally dies but Romero's death is figurative. Thanks for the notes. I knew a Sandra and that fits!

Thank you! Sometimes it's hard to come up with a story or poem and then see where it fits. Maybe I should "stockpile" some!

When worlds collide like theirs it's usually a comet across the sky then disappears. What a wonderfully written poem.
Good luck in the contest!
Have a great day, and God bless.

Jim,
Your wonderful song of romance and heartache is heartfelt and sad.
I like the refrains and the symbolism of the name Sandra.
Great poem, Jim.
Keep writing!

Well, well, well, there is a lot of double meanings and inside insinuations in the neat piece of work.
I think you took a completely unique and unexpected route with the prompt.
Good luck in the contest.

Complete song and or poem. The poem spoke of love, deep yearning, and betrayal. The usual for a country song. man meets a woman and wants the woman for himself, she does not comply another man takes his place, he kills woman. Shame.

An intriguing and unusual response to the prompt. Really interesting writing. Almost ballad-like. I like the style and the language which creates a real scene and satisfying atmosphere/mood. Well done, and good luck.

This one intrigued me and I loved the insertions of the refrains. This is very original for a contest that is sure to make the rainbow the overt theme of many entries. This poem really makes one think of "somewhere over the rainbow" . . . And how we never know what lies there. Nice piece.
