To save you the trouble, would you like me to send you a synopsis of Part 1? In it, the highlights of every chapter are mentioned.

This is an excellent story chapter! I enjoyed reading it. Your presentation is good. You use descriptive words that draw in a reader and your dialogues are authentic and support your story well
Best wishes!

Okay, I like this new time and place for the game of gawf!
This was a good chapter identifying the new cast so to speak though I think Aggie is a distant relative to Arie with the green eyes and long red hair (if I'm remembering correctly, at my age I often wonder).
Great post Jim. One more to read and I'm all caught up.
Cheers...

Yep, you remembered correctly about the green eyes and red hair. It's not just a coincidence, and we'll see later how (if) they might somehow be related.

I did review this yesterday but apparently, my review was wiped out. So I'll try again. Thanks for promoting it, too!
I'm hoping that Kevin's friend is enjoying this adventure with Kevin (Kirk) as Putt. Enjoyed your fun choices of names!

Thank you, Helen. I think he'll enjoy it even more when he finds a girlfriend of his own later!

Well, it looks like our new hero wasn't the inventor of gowf in bonnie Scotland. I half-thought that while they were in battle they would have tripped on a gopher hole and had an epiphany. But I'm just playing with you. You seem to have a love of European history, Jim. Your information doesn't appear to be something you'd pick up by superficial research.
"causing him to topple and land face down on top of my friend," [to make for a more active cause-to-effect here, may I suggest: "toppling him to fall face down on my friend." Just a small change to consider.]
I'm looking forward to more of this story!

It looks like our two time travelers will have more than just ancient golf to deal with. Appearing in the middle of a battle keeps things lively and lets us know the timeframe they have dropped into. It also gives a hint of how dangerous the times are. I hope they survive to return to tell their tale.
Maybe someone already mentioned this but you are missing quotes in this sentence:
"I owe you, brother," he said, (")but I'm hoping not to have to collect on the debt.(")

This age is more like what we think of as the middle ages with war and pestilence than the previous age of Part 1.
Thanks for the good catch, debi.

It was the rapists in the first throwback, soldiers of King James II in this new time period. What strikes me is that we are always fighting - in every time and in every place.
I feel like I'm back in the 1200s again - it feels like the same characters in a different time period with different names and occupations. Maybe we don't really change.
And did I see kolf mentioned? Of course, I did!

No, you saw gowf mentioned but, SSDD.
Yes, fighting always seems to be present in every era, and usually for the same reasons. It seems to be in man's nature as the ultimate way to solve problems--cruel and inhumane and destructive as it is.
But we won't focus too much on that. We'll be getting back to much more important matters like gowf in the next chapter.

So is Kevin now Kirk? I had to study the Author's Notes in order to hazard a guess. And
Good writing, though. And good battle action, too.
Best wishes.

He's as much Kirk as he was Kilian, which is to say he is inside his mind, experiencing everything Kirk experiences, but he's not exactly him.

Okay, so they stepped right into action and immediately know how to shoot an arrow. I'd say that's pretty good timing. It will be interesting to see where this goes.
"I owe you, brother," he said, but I was hoping not to have to collect on the debt. (indicates he's already collected on the debt. Maybe 'I'm hoping not to')

I'm sure Kevin has never shot a long-bow and probably doesn't know how, but Kirk has. Remember, Kevin is not there, he is simply inside and sharing Kirk's mind for a while and is experiencing everything through Kirk.
Good catch on the tense.

Putt. Hilarious. Well. I didn't expect that. Not sure why the English are being sent to the sea but I'm sure you've done your research. I'd have expected a match across the border. Anyway, this is very exciting and I like what you're doing with the initials. Looking forward to more.

I thought, like you did, that the battles would be across the border, but the English used to make trips in their war ships too, especially to areas on the North Sea where Edinburgh is.
