Bill,
I like your "tasteful" (pun intended) sarcasm in this short poem.
It reminds me of the seventies' song, "we were born to be alive." stressing the emptiness of our lives at times. Just alive.(I don't feel this way right now.
Anyway, your poem speaks volumes!
The tone of your metaphor (the pursued) is very effective.
Good luck ck, Bill!
Blessings, Cindy

One would certainly expect tasty apple to be eaten by someone or something, ie birds or other animals. People would absolutely eat delicious looking apples. I especially love products like apple pie and apple cobblers.

I am led to understand that just one of them, ingested on a daily basis, will prevent medical personnel from entering one?s domicile.

That is the popular assertion, not yet proven to me.

How did the consumers get those apples off that tree? Oh, that's right, they must've used apple saws. Another cute and colorful little offering from a master writer who could probably write on any subject and any length. Sorry, I wouldn't know where to begin to analyze or criticize this, just know it was entertaining.

And you certainly attained that-no joke!

I must say, the fusion of apples and candles is quite extraordinary! The ingenious practical joke has piqued my interest in utilizing them as embellishments for the Christmas tree.
I had a great time reading it and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Laugh out loud funny. You made my day. And, by the way, I entered my first ever fantasy story to Grendel House Press, and was just informed I made it to the second reading for "The Midnight Labyrinth" anthology to be published in 2024.Never made it this far before. I am getting better.

Thank you, Sandra. I call them caramel apples, but the artist named the picture Candied Apples, so I went with that.

The pranka is in the form of a tanka, but abides by no rules and leans to humor, Lisa.
