Hi Lisa,
This well done essence poem has the feeling of grief after a spouse's death. The silhouettes could be the shadows of memories of time together.
Congrats on winning the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Have a great rest of the week.

Excellent rhymes. Are you going to win another one, do you think? You're on a bit of a roll. This neatly sums up life and death in twelve syllables. Well done and good luck.

Nicely done, Lisa May. It's hard to fit true emotion into these very short poems, but you've managed to do that. Good luck in the contest. I'm in it too, but you know I'll be thrilled for you if you win.

Thank you Michele. You'll know this emotion from losing your mother. The verse is from the heart. A man I loved died suddenly last week. Although not linked by marriage and children, we shared many adventures together over the past 17 years. It has hit me hard. I will miss him from my life. I'm glad I have many photos of our times together.
(I am so happy for you that the quality of your recent poetry has been gaining reward.)

Jenny, I'm so sorry. You don't have to be related to someone to love them deeply, and you're very lucky to have had such a relationship. I'm so glad you have your writing as a way of dealing with your emotions. As you know, I relied on my writing when both my father (five years ago) and my mother died. It was a tremendous help. I hope it is for you. I'm always here for you if you need a shoulder.
Thank you very much for your kind words about my recent wins.

Roger was the one I rode around Australia on motorbikes with for 2 years, and was his partner for 10, although we lived in different towns back in NZ by then. No one else really knows the depth of my feelings for him as I don't have family to share with.

I'm so sorry, Jenny. Obviously, I love my husband dearly, and couldn't imagine my life without him, so my heart goes out to you. You have my email address, should you ever want to discuss your feelings in a more private venue.

You chose a subject that many can relate to in this two line poem. Your first line causes the reader to immediately think back on a deceased loved one. Your second line brings a calming peace. Your artwork intensifies your message. Best wishes in the contest.

I love to see what writers come up with for these essence poems. The format is so restrictive and demanding
I like your creative approach. Shortening memories makes the rhyme stand out more. And you have a good message. Your twelve double rhyming syllables actually say something.
Nice work. I see a contender.

These words remind me of my brother, who lost his wife suddenly six months ago. I hope his memories of her to console him. A very poignant and heartfelt poem.
Good luck in the contest.

Compliance we're agreed
Has just been here achieved
For assonance I'm sure
is fine as rhyme that's pure
Forty-five characters
is too many actors
I was even then light
when goal was in sight

Your essence poems does a fine job of describing the shift from loss and grief to finally be at peace and enjoying the memories of times once shared. It really gets to the essence of life and death.
