This free verse uses strong metaphor, alliteration, and line breaks well to give clear images of past events and how it may effect us as we glimpse the reflections in the sands of time. Your artwork is well chosen.

A deep reflection on the history of mankind and the sea. Some crossed to conquer and become wealthy merchants, some were kidnapped and sold and sent by sea, but we should " chart a straighter course" for the future of humanity.

This is nice free verse. I like the idea of history being capture with the grains of sand. We can only hope that the path being charted into the future is toward a straighter course.

"moonlight reflections" sums up this work wonderfully, as you remind us of what we did and are doing that has got us to this point, (piracy and slavery) must change, though not as prominent now as back then we still have a long voyage ahead, very well written, best wishes for your contest****kahpot

I wish I could write free verse the way you do! When I lived in Connecticut, there was a place called "Mystic Seaport" honoring the days of the old sailing vessels. So, when I say your words had a "mystical" quality about them, there is a double meaning involved!
