This poem conjures up some lovely images but I'll be honest and admit that I don't quite understand it. Are you referring to a flower that is slowly dying perhaps or being destroyed by a passing storm? Having said that I am sure that others will understand it so good luck in the contest

I like this poem. Very emotional. I wonder if 'failing' is more of what you intend or 'falling' as in falling by the wayside. Is her storm a series of romantic failures? That picture would be unbelievable if there were a couple petals lying about the forged heart in the dust of 'cocaine'. Just guessing on the cocaine part. Well done.

This four-line poem, Rose, has the proper formatting and sees the metaphorical petals falling to the wayside as the forecast ahead limits the possibilities of the rose.

No. This is sad. The poor rose has no chance against the storm. She struggles, but petal-by-petal she is peeled away and so are her dreams. An excellent metaphor for how overwhelming life can be.
