An emphatic win. Congratulations. I enjoyed this gruesome tale of evil Smokey. Got to run, I need to check if I put that fire out properly. Thanks for playing! Craig

Hey, Craig, hi. Thank you for the congrats and for throwing the contest. I had fun with it. I don't know if I had more fun writing it or creating the ridiculous picture. Lol. It was a great idea for a contest. I appreciate it, friend. Have yourself a good one.

Lovely rhyme and rhythm and you are clearly winning, but I am afraid I have no idea what or who the Smokey is. How is this a myth? Does it need a note, or is this a common American thing that we British would not understand?

Smokey The Bear. I haven't heard a lot about him lately but he was big when I was a kid. He'd always say, "Only you can prevent forest fires." He wore a forest ranger hat and always had a shovel with him. It didn't even dawn on me that some might not know who he was. I may have to add a note in there. A quick internet search will bring up a lot. Thank you for the great review and stars, John.

I see. Obviously not affecting your position in the Contest. Well done.

That's a fine poem, which meets the requirements of the contest and also has a meaningful message. It flows well and rhymes well, and the presentation is well done also. Best wishes for your entry.

WOW, Mystery Contestant! This is AWESOME!! All your rhymes and rhythms were phenomenal and the story was over-the-top fantastic!! I am so impressed here. There's no way you and Smokey don't come out in the winner's circle! I'm about to cast my vote for you right now!! Great work. xo

Thank you for the great review, Rachelle. I only wish "Only you can prevent forest fires" was in meter, but what can you do? Lol. I actually had as much fun creating the picture. It's like 4 different Google Images mixed, arranged and shaded just right. Ha. I dearly appreciate the support, R. I'm glad you liked my dark Smokey tale.

I did!! It was terrific. And ditto for the image that sounds as if it took a lot of work, too!! Go you! xo

Yes, the picture actually took longer to create than writing it took. Lol. I love playing in my art program.

I think this is an excellent entry in this poetry contest, a definite contender. It builds a message for those unhappy campers who carelessly and mindlessly leave their campfires smouldering or burning, heh heh. Beautifully written, my friend, great flow, rhyme amd theme, blessings Roy

Now this is a rather clever one for the Myth, Legend, or Fairy Tale contest.
And, who the image!!
This is probably my most favourite part.
For years he tried and tried his best
to teach the people right,
yet had to put out burning coals
they'd leave there every night.

What do Attila The Hun, Alexander The Great, and Smoky The Bear have in common?-The same middle name! Anyhow, thanks for posting this. I've been wondering what Smokey has been doing nowadays. With his name, I'm glad he didn't hook up with Cheech and Chong.

Wow... good job with the picture. Excellent entry for the Myth, Legend or Fairy Tale writing prompt contest. I understand smoker's anger but it's a terrifying tale with a great message. Good luck!

Hey, Gypsy, hello. Thank you so much for the fantastic review and giant sixer. I use a free art program called Gimp to do my picture manipulations. I have as much fun with that as I do writing. I really appreciate the huge rating and good luck wishes. I'm glad you liked the piece. Have yourself a great weekend and thank you again.

That would be a sure lesson to learn or receive the wrath of Smokey The Bear!
So many plain don't care they just leave the fir and their trash with the mindset others will take care of it.

The Legend of Smokey the Bear goes back decades, and as a boy I heeded his warnings to put out my fire when I went camping. I never thought of Smokey getting violent with miscreants, but he certainly had reason to at times. I really like the photo you created. Rod
