No more sixes this week, but your poem deserves one.
The picture is priceless and you've described it with your usual sense of humor and a big dollop of tenderness.
I hope you're having a great holiday.

I wonder what happened to ym roger. The picture is precious. It reminds me of my granddaughter who does the same pose. :)

What a difficult poetic form, and you do a fabulous job in mastering it. Love the subject matter, and those shades are a perfect choice for that pucker. "In style, she wore her messy waves of gold" - love this line. My granddaughter is a dram queen, also, so I get the point completely.

Oh what a fun story to look back on. Little girls can have so much fun! Where exactly is Yorkshire? I would have put isn't she cute instead of wasn't she cute. But thats just my opinion. Barbara H

Hi Barbara, Thank you for your feedback :) Yorkshire is a beautiful county in the north of England. I put 'wasn't', rather than 'isn't', because it is a historical photograph. She's almost thirteen now and would die of embarrassment if I called her cute!

The picture alone would seal it for me. Remember, you created her too. You write well, keep it up. You used a light touch which melded perfectly with the picture. I bet she is amazing and creative too. Karen

Ah, thanks so much, Karen :) She is definitely amazing and creative. She's also intelligent, imaginative, sensitive, argumentative, tetchy and explosive - now twelve, she's a force of nature!
    Best wishes, Debra

OOOH! the teenage years! That's going to be fun. I had two boys. 48 and 44 now. How did that happen?

Crazy isn't it?! I wish I knew where the time went...
Ben is 18, Katie is almost 16 and Rebecca will be 13 at Christmas - pubescent hormones are rife here, not to mention my peri-menopausal ones added to the mix!

Take lots of pictures. And instead of buying lots of things, spend the money on family adventures. Take out a map close your eyes and point go there. When you have a kids a party have a treasure hunt. Costs nothing endlessly fun. Karen

Very nice, Deb! I don't think I've run across this poetic form before, but you've done a great job with it. I especially like the synonyms, "pucker/pout", depending on Rebecca's mood. Love the name... does she get "Becky" at times? I always remember my first girlfriend, Becky Thatcher, from Mark Twain's story about Tom Sawyer.
Nice ending, too...
"with lips stuck out, in
comical
pout"
Thanks for sharing your memory!
Hugs,
Kimbob

    Hello Kimbob :)
Thank you for your lovely feedback. Glad you enjoyed the read!
Rebecca usually gets Becca or Bec, although If I'm hollering her from the kitchen, I don't holler 'Bec', as we also have a Ben and I end up with both of them hollering back at me! Not that I condone hollering, but sometimes it's unavoidable!
Best wishes as always, Debra :) x

Great job with your Even the Odds poem! Yvette would be proud that you used it! Rebecca is glamorous and knows how to "strike a pose." Are you all from Yorkshire and that is why she's a "Yorkshire rose"? Great rhymes!

Hooray for Yorkshire. We know an artist from Yorkshire. Do you know Andy Urwin? He makes raku style ceramic houses.

No I don?t know him, but I just googled him and wow! His little houses are beautiful 😍

We also have a five-year-old that stays with us and her ability to strike a pose is amazing. It's usually mixed with pouty lips. What a wonderfully written poem. Best of luck with your writing!

Have a great day, and God bless.
