I must be hungry. Love what you had to offer about your hometown...but what struck me was homemade peach ice cream! WHAT? I didn't even know that was a thing! It's sure nothing I've ever seen offered in New England. I'd love to get that far down south and see Winston Salem.

Hi Sarah,
I remember this writing prompt, but didn't enter it. You did a great job with it.
The community I live in was also established, and still largely populated by Moravians. I didn't know Winston-Salem was, too. I, also, didn't know that's where Krispy Kremes came from. I do know our small town has more doughnut stores than I've ever seen, and, of course, we have Kolache Depot.

Thanks for sharing your hometown with us,

Hugs,
Rhonda

Lovely story of your home town,it told me a lot I didn't know. Krispy Kreme is my favorite donut on Earth. And, I was unaware of how vastly charitable Mr Reynolds was. It is a testament to him that he doesn't bandy it about as so many do these days. Sounds like you have plenty of good reasons to love your town. Great story, really well done.
read my story "Genoa, Texas", tell me what you think.

I have never been to Winston-Salem. From your description it sounds lovely. It is easy to envision being young eating the peaches, playing with your cousins and going to Easter services. Great work! Barbara H.

This could be a good motivation for all, not just students not just young people but for all because it shows that if you work hard enough or something and have a dream and visualize it the universe will shine on you and grant it.

What a wonderful family we're/are the Reynolds family, such community minded and caring folk, of course the anomaly is the tobbaco industry, those of us who turned their back on smoking are likewise grateful for the research statistics that lead us to quit. It's a lionised industry now, beautifully written, your citu sounds marvellous, well done, blessings Roy

Thanks for sharing your touching hometown story, and yes, I agree, the best part of any city is its people. Just like stories, it isn't the plots that make the stories, it's the characters that supply the action. Thanks for sharing.

I loved this! Worthy of an extra star which I, unfortunately, do not have. I learned so much about your home town and the Reynolds family. I especially enjoyed your description of the Moravian service. This is easily the best "Home Town Tribute" I've read yet!
