Hi Yvonne, I think that you have it right. We simply need to believe. Here is a quote.

"I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me will live, even though they die;"

Your poem reads and flows well, and your message is clear, albeit you struggle with the concept as many people do.

Of special note:
But does it matter? Isn't the belief in Them, whether separately or united, is what is important?

(Yvonne, the believe in Them is what is important in my humble opinion, but I am not a pillar of the church, so I may have it wrong, but at least your with an alike mind.)

Well done. A thought-provoking poem of faith. Xo. M

Thank you for that. I think some people spend too much time trying to figure everything out when we don't really need toknow.

Well, with my simplistic pea brain it isn't often that I totally understand anything. But when it comes to God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit as a unit or three different entities, I just fall back on faith and trust he'll let me know everything I need to. Thanks for sharing.

That's exactly the way I feel. I'm like the little boy in Sunday School who, when asked to recite the 23rd Psalm said, "The Lord is my shepherd, and that's all I need to know."

I can't believe that I've just written a poem, and it's about In the Beginning was the Word, and then I come and read this one of yours!! How's that for proving we definitely are SATPs? Lol.

Yours was very interesting, Yvonne, and I like you and the many more out there, can't get my head around the three being one. Jesus being God's son, that is where the confusion begins. But as you say at the
end, God doesn't intend for us to know until we're home with Him. Excellent, my dear SATP!!! :)) Sandra xx

Hello Yvonne,
I'm glad you posted this. I don't think we should ever be afraid to write about what is on our minds, as long as we respect others beliefs. There have been a number of controversial subjects discussed on this forum and I don't find your subject controversial. You've spoken from the heart what others might be having a hard time understanding as well. I don't think it's disrespectful to God to wonder about things, or to question Him, but as you mentioned, some things will remain a mystery until He chooses to reveal them. I believe that the very fact that this is on your mind means that you are giving thought to God and trying to understand Him. Well done gal.
Have a blessed day.
Tom

Thank you. I knew you'd be one to understand. It puzzles me that everyone wants to know everything! I think some things are meant to be a mystery. We know the basics - the Ten Commandments and the Golden Rule, and I think that's all we really need. Like the little boy in Sunday School when asked to recite the 23rd Psalm, he said, "The Lord is my shepherd, and that's all I really need to know."

Yes it is difficult and I rather liked the illustration that tries to explain the idea of the Trinity with the use of Venn Diagrams. I remember once becoming involved in a discussion on this very subject and began my own explanation with the quotation, 'In the beginning was the word...'

Before I could get anything else out someone piped up, '... and the word was Aardvark.' The meeting dissolved into hysterics, my own included. But I felt that interruptor had a very good point. What you cannot explain succinctly is best left well alone.

Thank you. I think we feel we must understand everything in the universe. I disagree. Some things are best left alone. We'll find out if we're supposed to know.

I understand and you are right. The Trinity is not a Biblical term, but the concept is. Jesus claimed equality with the Father and for that "blasphemy" he was cruelly crucified, but the Holy Spirit was also evident in creation and He is in fact the life-giving breath of life which raised Jesus from the dead. We can't understand the attributes of God perfectly - otherwise He wouldn't be God, far above and beyond our understanding, but we can still know and trust Him. Lovely piece, very thought-provoking.

Those who undermine your thoughts or berate you for any lack of knowledge of the bible are not true Christians as we should welcome anyone who wants to believe and have faith, despite their level of understanding of the bible. Having said that I loved your fine post Yvonne and your conclusion here, many will identify with your words, love Dolly x

I agree with you there. Some things will always remain mysteries. Yes, the matter of the Holy Trinity can be hard to understand. I remember a song about God in three persons, blessed Trinity. I think we can get bogged down sometimes trying to figure these things out, but maybe that's where faith comes in. You do a great job of explaining your thinking about the Trinity and the confusion you have felt about it. judi

I think this is wonderful, damommy. The picture was perfect because they showed that God is indeed part of the Trinity. God, His Son and the Holy Spirit are all part of the Trinity. Blessings n Hugs!!!
