This is beautiful...and so true. Photos are the same kind of magic that songs are: they can take you back to a time and place and FEELING. I'm going to check out your book, "Learning to Fly" later this week, when I have some free time. I know I will love it. xoxoxo

Oh my gosh, this is lovely. You share all the possibilities that a photograph can hold for us, the ability to take us back in time visually and emotionally. Well done!

With the advent of the cell phone and being able to take any photographs of our families, we have so many memories that are tied up in those photographs and real be something that will bring closure to families for the years. Patricia

This is very you, Debra. It's sweet, loving, nostalgic.
Nice use of alliteration (was it intentional?)
And the picture is priceless. You both look so pretty!
I'm not sure what I like better: the poem or the notes.
Knowing Rebecca and you makes this post even lovelier. I'm going to read it a third time and I don't often do that. x

Excellent Rondelet about your daughter. She is so adorable...oh my goodness. I have many pictures of my children and grandchildren from before cellphone pictures became popular. Good job.

I loved your rondelet! And that's a lovely photography and your poem describes the feelings that we have when we look back on our younger parenting years. I would keep my favorite little kid photo of my troubled teen nearby to remember that the same goofy, happy kid was still in there.

Dear Debra, this is beautiful in its pure simplicity, poignancy and nostalgia. And your notes alone are worthy of a separate entry. There's always such a tender subtlety to your posts - the gentle rhyming and repetition are so pleasing. And even the clever touch of putting the picture at an angle reflect a skilful care and attention to making your subject resonate in its emotional impact on the reader. Well done! Debbie x

Hi Debra,
Ah, you can't beat a great photograph. They bring back wonderful memories. I love to look at pictures of my kids and grandkids, and our old pets, too. I've got a picture of walking our first cairn terrier, Annie, along SeaView Beach in Prince Edward Island. We vacationed there every summer when my kids were young. It's like being right there in an instant. I can still see her smelling crab legs and sea grass, and paw prints in the sand.
One year, we went to "Grandpa's Antique Photo Studio" in Cavendish, PEI, and dressed up in American Civil War attire. You should have seen my youngest, Luke, (who will be 40 in October, but then just six years old). He was holding a rifle, and looked like he was bewildered, going off to battle. I should dig out that old picture and write a poem to go with it. That would be fun.
Very nice poem! I like the repetition of "A photograph".
I like personification in this line,
"can wake a dozing yesterday"
And the alliteration in,
"trigger tears/bring brightness/dreary day"
Well done! Wonderful topic!
Thanks for sharing.
Hugs,
Kimbob

Thank you so much for your lovely reaction to my poem, kimbob :) I'm glad that you enjoyed the read. Thanks also for sharing a photo memory of Annie with me too! Its strange how all the senses wake up when a day is brought back to mind just by looking at a photo. Best wishes as always, Debra x
