Of course we understand. You want what you say to be profound and something the girls will truly treasure. People are multidimential and it is hard to try to condense all of their feeling on a subject into a short paragraph. I hope you also leave them something longer so they can get to know the real you. I know one day thiey will love reading your books and proud thier grandmother is a talented writer

Barbara, I think you should tell them you're a woman with deep emotions and enduring love of family. You are able to express these thoughts and feelings through your writing. All writers expose a part of themselves each time they write. And tell them you have a huge family we call FanStory, and that you are loved.

Hugs,
Rhonda

I actually think that's what I'm going to write. How much I love them. Thank you for the support.

Knowing you and your writing skills, you will get it done. People are so prone to help but inside of you is the writer that I know exist. Thanks for sharing, Barb.

Don't do yourself down. I've really enjoyed reading your little series. You have shared some important wisdom along the way. I think if I were to sum up my concerns for girls growing up I would discuss: social media and its pros and more its cons, reading versus screens, the importance of mental health, the importance of character over looks and, vitally, ensuring that girls grow up understanding that no door needs to be closed to them any more and that their gender should never dictate over their aspirations. Barbara, I am thinking one thing they should know about you, is when say something important to them, it comes from your heart. And two, you don't want to say it, until your heart and head get it right. Terry.

Ah, that's sweet. Thank you for the encouragement. I've pretty much settled on what I want them to know about me is how much I love them.

I guess all you can do is write what comes from the heart. Sometimes it is hard to know exactly how to chose the words to convey your meaning. I wish you the best with your venture.

Interesting to read your thoughts dear Mrs. Wilkey... I too hated the cities so three years ago my husband and I moved to Spain... And, what a perfect move that was.
YES, write everything you can from your heart for your grandchildren.
This does matter and as a writer you can certainly express your thoughts very well...So no worries about that.

Five stars for reminding us our FIRST concept of a project...particularly one as deeply meaningful as this...may not be our best. I've been thinking of beginning a similar "life journal" for my four grandkids and am on my eleventh "false start."

Someone recently suggested I go to my local library and research what they have for helpful books on how to gather and organize our memories and thoughts for our grandchildren.

I'm going to do that soon. I'll share if I find anything!

No apology or explanation necessary. We all know that you will post as inspiration and dedication prompts you. Taking a few days, or whatever, to flesh out your thoughts is something we should all do.
Best wishes.

I always enjoy your personal messages here and I can understand that, sometimes, it's quite a struggle and a bit surreal to find something meaningful for the adults your young grandchildren will much later become. Delving into the heart is not always an easy experience especially when fictional pieces can distance you somewhat by making you a third party. I hope that makes sense. Small edit with close- (k)nit. I appreciate your honesty, Barbara. Take care Debbie
