What an interesting juxtaposition of burned out forests and burned out humanity. Just as the seed finds its way to greatness out of ashes, wo might mankind.

This is incredibly "deep", for lack of a better word, and I'm not sure I completely understand YOUR intention. But if we burn the earth to the ground as many warn we are, who says we won't come back better and stronger. And, hopefully, smarter.

Sorry I do not have a six left for you.

Pam

It's strange how nature has different tools to combat disaster. You have a fire, now worries I got fire resistant plant seeds ready to restart the cycle of life;"

After a raging fire has scoured the woods to nothing,
how does vivacious green know to return?
Hidden in cones cracked open by the flame,
what tells the pine seed it is safe?"

Forest fires are a tragedy and they kill the wildlife and burn our precious trees to the ground. We hope for regrowth and your journey here of re-growth is praise-worthy and hopeful, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

An interesting and thought-provoking poem, K, as always. I'm not sure the seed ever knows it's 'safe' for safety in this world is an illusion. Dependent upon any number of factors, some are 'safer' than others, but no one is truly safe. But no one can bloom unless they leave the darkness of the soil. No can flourish without the time of rest the cycle provides whether it's forced as with fire or a normal part of the cycle. Even seeds change, adapting to different soils, though it takes time. Then the flowers are all the more brilliant for its adaptation. Thank you for sharing your amazing poem. I am so sorry I am out of sixes.

Fire is a shocking thing for people who want to possess the beauty of the countryside as a home, like a floodplain, even if it only floods once every century, it still happens, too frequently in our country, this is so well written my friend, blessings Roy

This was a very interesting poetic essay on change and the motivation to change. Enjoyed the way you began with the story of the pinecones and likened it to our motives to survive and grow.

A talented poet. I truly enjoyed the flow of your words here. It felt like cascading mountains, beautifully landscaped along the journey between life and death.

Beautiful and insightful writing. Yes there is much to learn from nature all around us. There are parallels to our own human experience, yet we think we are unique. If we thought of nature as being an extension with ourselves maybe we would treat it better. Maybe we would treat ourselves better for that matter. Flowers abc humans both should feel safe to show themselves. Best wishes!
