Let's hope the lawyer won't compromise himself and his future for the sake of money. Not sure what Fee has planned for Sally but if won't be good. At least everyone has heard him. Another good chapter. It's not over yet by the sound of it!

I've never thought of it, but I suppose eating a jar of mustard might make a person sick. It might work, except that Sally is wise to him. I don't think he's going to get very far.

Fee is pretty good at making people forget to be honorable. Unfortunately, money speaks. And Det. Sally Law has found another good cause, a new precinct house for the police with their tiny bungalow for an office. Good chapter with lots of interesting things happening.

On my goodness, this is so spooky and full of suspense and as much as Fee is rotten to the core, you just can't help loving to hate him. He is as ruthless as any character in any story I have ever read. You sure know how to make him out to be the perfect villain and I am happy that I cannot figure out his next move . Well l have a good guess and I can always suspect but only get it right part of the time. So this latest move with the mustard has got me begging for more. Yet I don't like what my guess here is. And I can't believe his new attorney is thinking about helping him. Thanks for this awesome suspenseful, and amazing chapter. What a thriller! With all you've been through, your writing hasn't missed a beat!!
Awesome!

I had to read the author's notes to know why the heck his lawyer would risk his career and freedom from jail for two bucks! This was flawlessly written, Sal, but it seemed shorter than usual. Of course, now we know what Fee is up to and can look forward to how he plans to do it.

Really enjoying this story and look forward to seeing it in my messages every Monday morning:-)

See you next week.

Thank you for the superb rating and generous stars, my friend. It means so much to me!

Two bucks is slang for two million. You must've missed my author's notes. I also noted singer Karen Carpenter's death by abuse of Ipecac.

Sending you my very best today as always, dear Pam.

No, I read your author's notes, that's why I mentioned it was the only way I knew what the term meant.

    Enjoying the book:-)

Oh, missed that. I'm sorry. When listening on audio it doesn't always come across to me as well as I would like. Blessings.

This is a necessary bridge chapter to prepare us for the next round of excitement, as Fee is trying to set up his escape from imprisonment.

In Section Two, Jackson announces that Sally is donating a more spacious building with better facilities and parking space across the street from Aspen Grove PD's current office. He calls it "Giving where there's a need." If more people of wealth would follow such a principle instead of pursuit of power, this world would be both better and safer for all.

In Section Three, when Fee calls asking for Sally, she signals Tommy to say she's in a meeting and he'll inform her of the call. After the call, Tommy reveals that he realizes Fee is "planning a jailbreak."

Sure enough, in Section Four, Fee offers Lawyer Crenshaw a substantial bribe from hidden funds to help him escape, and asks him to bring mustard spread to temporarily sicken but not harm his prison guard.

Thus, you put us in suspense to see whether Fee gets away with it.

Thank you for your Author Note about Ipecac as a contributor to the early demise of Karen Carpenter. I did not know that.

I did figure out the "Two bucks" slang, but the note could help others.

Superb, and aptly illustrated.

Yes, Fee is planning a jail break. I surely hope it doesn't work. It sounds like the police department is on to him. I can't wait for more.

Fitzgerald Elling knew his window of opportunity was closing as fast as Christmas was approaching. (passive maybe, Christmas approached.)

Jackson spoke up, "Most of you may know I (you can omit 'up')

That's good to know about the "mustard spread." I suppose a lot of herbs in great quantities could do that.
I like how the whole PD was there when Elling called and listened in on the request. And how thrilling that they will get a whole new building thanks to the generous Jackson and Sally - um Santa and Mrs. Claus.
I hope the lawyer is smart enough to not accept Elling's offer and brings a tape recorder.

The police are on to Fitzgerald Elling, he is planning an escape, says Tommy Thompson, but I guess they don't know where or when, but Fee's lawyer might, but this will reveal whether the lawyer is bent or not. He certainly doesn't have any scruples, I don't really understand that. Beautifully written Sally, blessings Roy
