Once again, you deserve the highest rating I have! Even though we most likely will never meet, I feel as though I truly know your family through your words. You are a writer of the highest caliber.

You amaze me Beth. You must have kept a Diary to be able to recall all this from the past! I must say you have had an interesting life. You would have had quite a fictitious novel if you had used fictitious names. LOL Well done! She was a hand full. Nancy:)

Thank you Nancy. I kept a diary for a while but that was later. What I"m writing about now is from memory. I don't think my life so any more interesting than anyone elses. But it is interesting to me because because I lived it.

Haha. It's nice to have several kids to have fun comparing them with you and your husband. I only have one who is a lot like me but both he and my husband are perfectionists. They will loss sleep in order to get project in a perfect shape. I had jaw surgery a long time ago and had puff cheeks. My son called me a squirrel.

Well done.

Thank you for the nice review. I'm glad you found some humor here. Carol was the least amusing of my four children.

It sounds like u had a wonderful first daughter. I think mentioned once how she's been strong for the Lord as she's grown up too. I have daughter who loved the Lord led her friends to Christ but has since stopped reading her Bible as an adult, and going to church. Treasure those whose roots are strong!

Thank you for a great review. We can't give up. The Bible says is we bring them up in the Lord when they're old they won't depart from it so maybe they'll return if we keep praying for thtem.

How very interesting! Yes, I see certain strong characteristics of my husband in my children, particularly the first and third. Genetics is quite fascinating. Thank you for sharing your story about Carol. It was very well written, as always.

Thank you Wendy. It is amazing what a role genetics seem to play in our lives. I wonder how far back those genetic traits go and if we share much in common with our ancestors. Their life slyles are were so different from this generation so that would probably be a factor.

You are doing a very good job at describing the characteristics of your children. It is so amazing how God makes each of them unique, and yet sharing some of the attributes of each parent. Oh, Beth, to know what we know today, and go back and raise our children, I am sure we would all do some things differently.

Yes, I'm sure we would change some thing if we could. Some people seem to do everything right and still their children have problems. We learn from our problems and our children have to learn from theirs.

You know, at first I thought the nose part was misplaced, but then I reread it and realized it is just perfect.
Great descriptions and memories fill the story.
Your beginning made me think.
Thinking about it, my mother, I am told, was outspoken and would take charge - My older sister, who was with my mother the longest is like that.
While my Dad was more of a quiet introvert - My brother and me are like him.
My younger sister seems confused which she should be and often lands on her face when she pushes forward.
Best wishes,
Mary

Thank you Mary. DNA makes an impact. It is funny how children get these traits from thier parents. None of them are exactly like me but I see so much of myself in certain traits.

Another fun read. Your first paragraph bring to light the universality of your observations. Comparing Carol to the stubborn roots of a plant is a good analogy. Paragraph four deals with the importance of compromise in a marriage. I would have had a hissy fit too if my children had ruined my record collection.
That's hilarious about the nicknames.

Thank you for the excellent review. I like a little humor but couldn't find a lot while writing about Carol. I'm glad the nickname part was amusing.

I remember you writing about the John Denver craze. And I'm so sorry about the loss of your music. Of course, back then you didn't know we can always find any song on YouTube. I recognize the "introvert" in her just like you described as I am, too. I liked how you adapted to Evan's personality and knew what worked with him and with Carol.
Suggestions:
yet she is the one I've always felt was the most at dependable. (remove "at")
That scene left Carol and I (left Carol and me)
asking if she had had surgery, (remove one "had")?

Thank you Helen. I need to see if I can find that music I like so much back then. I hadn't thought of that. It was the Singing Nun and I'm sure it is on line. Yes, she and Evan were classic introverts, but it is hard to picture you as an introvert because you are always reaching out to others. Maybe it is easier to reach out in writing.

Yes, for me it's easier to reach out in writing and less in person. I still do and among church friends I am out of my shell. But I'm really not a big party person.
