This is so fantastic. It rhymes, it tells a true story and it's so enthralling. This is poetry at its finest. It also delivers courage, stupidity and adventure in copious quantities. And lastly, it makes me want to delve onto your portfolio to read more of your work. I'll do that today. Thank you Stu.

I enjoyed your rich descriptions here of the stormy sea and the gales. Your poem brought back memories of a trip I once took when our ship went through the Bay of Biscay on a very stormy night with 9 foot waves! I was very scary and we were meant to continue our journey south but could not and had to find a safe harbour for the night. Much enjoyed Stu, love Dolly x x x

I like the highly descriptive story in a poem, skilfully written in the adventures that occur on the high seas, written stylishly in tetrameter and abcb rhyming, a most enjoyable tale to read, well done, blessings Roy

(Do you mean 'rum'?) This is an unusual, rather arcane, piece, but no harm in that. A sense of a sea shanty and akin to all those mysterious sailor yarns. Lovely writing.

Fascinating and I must say, surprising, and if it's part of a wider story, then it must be a tale known to sailors, or some of them, anyway. I must admit I've never heard of the three sea pixies, but then there's no reason I should have. Probably many stories about them.
Good luck in the contest.

Thanks so much..this is purely fiction.as will be the wider story..but fun to glue together...my maternal grandmother always told us that we owed a great debt to the British Navy as the colonies grew....In a fever of bourbon...I can name the ships at Trafalgar.....Godspeed to you and yours....Stu Harrell

When the Gale raged around Cape Horn you need all the help you can get. What a wonderfully written poem.
Good luck in the contest!

Really enjoyed this! When I was in Connecticut, I used to visit Mystic Seaport, which is dedicst4de to the whaling days and I loved the way you not only kept your rhyme but told a masterful tale of the sea.
