America today may be far from utopian, but in any time previous to this one, entire races and genders of citizens were being systematically oppressed and disenfranchised. So I can't in good conscience long for a return to a bygone era, either. Hopefully the best times are still ahead.

    oh, you mean open borders times, child porn and gender mutilation times, poor economy times, censored speech times, or maybe crooked government times, or maybe government controlled digital currency which will make our dollars worthless times, and the real kicker, American Socialists-our own people, turning this great nation into a banana republic -- right, best times to come. America before this administration had secure borders, good economy, there was no race suppression - except under dear old Obama. People could afford vacations, food, bought homes. Not so, today.

Those are all terrific pleas for Americans to stand up and I hope we finally do. What a wonderfully written poem.

    I think if most of America would rise up in indignation and support of
    freedom, less government, etc etc, we could vote 'em out.

Thank you! Three wonderful poems now instead of hateful Trump diatribes. How refreshing. We are in a mess here and it's not because of Trump. We've been cajoling with socialists/communists for some time and have elected them into office! Sickening! I come from a military family and this is awful. I'm sure my ancestors are looking on us with pained regrets.

    Ooh. I had better not get into a political argument, especially about a different country, but I think the liberal view - I am a left-leaning Guardian reader - here is that the Republicans are bad and the Democrats good. Roughly right bad, left good.

These are my thoughts as well. God willing we will return to a patriotic society, leaving the unintelligent socialists to seek communism is an another country.
