Thank you, Karen!

This seens to hint of a foreshadowing, the fact it s mentioned like this: "
"Now, first up is Gaston Paulette. He'll be delivered here shortly for booking. Who would like to process him?" Good choice of onomatopoetic words. This is a good point that could be applied to many we know: ""Fitzgerald wasn't always bad. It was a progression, I think. The love of money got a hold of him, and turned him into someone else... someone corrupt and soulless." Well done.

This is another excellent chapter. Everything seems to be falling into plave.
It is exciting that Willa is pregnant. Fitzgearld had let greed ruin him and to kill his pregant wife was shocking to Candace. I'm looking forward to more.

This is another excellent chapter. You moved the story along nicely. Your descriptions of the police work and the funeral are realistic. I do not see any room for improvement. Have a blessed day.

I can imagine them trying to dig up Paulette's family members. Who knows, maybe they'll even find something resembling a human living in some hole. Stranger things have happened.

This will be the third time I have tried to answer this. I changed iPads and everything came back as unanswered. Thankyou, thank you! I so appreciate your kind review and generous rating, Alex. Sending you my best today as always,

Sally, I had technical problems this week also. My voice type went crazy and a strange woman's voice spoke Mr every move it was infuriating and it took me six hours to realize how to disable it. I mean, I understand. :))

Scary, isn't it? We removed our Alexa (no offense) from the house because we heard evil laughter! No kidding. I practically yanked the damn thing out of the wall. LOL!

Hi Sally,
It's nice that Willa is going to have a baby. I'm betting it will be a girl. She can't replace Phoebe, but she will give Tommy someone to love just as much.
All the officers seem to be ready and willing to help out Tommy as he takes over the role of "Captain" while Hank is on the mend. I think they would have been of the same mind even without the doughnuts. They are all good people, and they want to clean up this case.
Dr. Shorter... what a well-chosen name for diminutive physician. When this novel becomes a movie, I would pick Wallace Shawn to play the role. He played the translator to Bishop Nogalich (Ken Buhay) in 1989 "We're No Angels". More recently, he played Dr. Sturgis in the entertaining series "Young Sheldon". Please note: If you do okay him to portray Dr. Shorter (he's 5'2", by the way), hopefully they'll decide to make the movie soon because Wallace is 79 years old. He'll turn 80 on November 12th.
Good word choice with "nefarious"!
"Your mother knew a whole lot, and was suspicious of your father's nefarious activities." ... I wonder what secrets Victoria Cole's journal will hold???
Nicely penned!
Hugs,
Kimbob

Excellent that the grandfather was a good person, and so was Victoria. She must have been very distressed about her husband's loss of any personal integrity and his spiral downwards into crime. Another fine chapter with some very happy moments.

Fascinating continuation of this story with a new, more settled tone and a totally convincing group of characters and their concerns. Most engaging to read and I look forward to more.

This was a great read. Glad to see Simon's Grandfather was on their side and aware of his son's terrible doings. I did ask a while back but got no answer. I missed your last chapter (a good read also)due to lack of notification. You must always let me know.
