Silent feet floor kiss
candles lying glow
Precedes horrid dark - you have the right count of syllables, and I like the staccato of the composition that declines in dark. Thank you for sharing and good luck with the contest and your writings.

I am giving this poem five stars because it sounds beautiful when you read it out loud but, to be honest, I have no idea what it means. I am sure that I am missing something obvious and that others will understand but that first line really has me puzzled.

Hi Eleri,
This is a prelude to a murder. "Silent feet floor kiss" means quietly approaching the candles glow gives of a feeling of comfort but it lies because here comes the murderer "proceeds horrid darkness."

Lots of susurration suggests secrets!
The light precedes the dark? Suggests a life snuffed out.
The feet kissing the floor suggests a bare-footed silent assassin -
so why is the candles glow lying? Does it suggest that life was recently there, but no more?
The 15 allows us to hold different opinions and give different interpretations, but a crime seems to have been committed, and death hangs over the scene.
Gruesome.

The candle in this particular instance is the one that lures the person into the room. A dark house with only one light but the candle lies it's holding something minister and someone. Thank you so much for your kind review. I appreciate it very much. I hope that you have been a fabulous day!
