Thank you for this article about Dr. Daniel Nour's impressive early career and founding of rapidly growing Street Side Medics to provide medical services to homeless people in Australia. This world would be a far better place if more of us showed caring for others in whatever way we could. He certainly deserved being named Young Australian of the Year for 2022. This was a delight to read.
Superb, aptly illustrated, and helpful with good references.

You are most welcome, Wendy. I like reading your stories about people who help others in a new way. Australia seems to have a growing number of such truly great individuals. :)) -- Mike

Thank you for the compliments. I simply followed my father's example. He actually taught my mother how to cook, and later taught her how to drive his standard shift car so she would have mobility when he was out of town. Years later, he paid for professional private driving lessons for me, then let me drive as much as possible once I had my license. After I got married, he sold me that car for a dollar, and it lasted another few years till I traded it (at 248,000 miles) for my beloved Galaxie, used, at one third of list price; so I never had to make car payments over the next forty-five years (over 305,000 miles) it lasted. I taught my oldest daughter expressway driving in my Galaxie once she had her license and I had bought her a car.
At age sixteen, she began working as a nanny for very young kids, and did so well with the third family she worked for that those kids, now grown, frequently come to visit her. She also became a great mom herself, after all that practice.
I don't understand your dad's actions. Fortunately, your mom did her best to minimize harm to you, though she couldn't prevent it entirely.
All things considered, you have become an ideal mom for your own kids. I hope the support you sense from your reviewers helps you to carry on.

I love that you've shared Dr. Nour's accomplishments. Often we see things and sense that as "just one person" we can't make a difference... But many ripples in many ponds start with one person tossing a pebble of hope and belief and determination! However we choose to pay it forward...as in the bank, "interest on investments accrue!"

What a wonderful man! We need more people like him! So many are focused only on their careers, making money, supporting their families. But he did more - he cared for those who could not care for themselves. Thank you for sharing about him!

This is another amazing story of someone who puts the needs of others above his own. It is good to know there are people out there who care about others and take matters into their own hands and make a difference. Thanks for sharing this story.

Thank you Beth. Thoughtful and caring review. Yes, it would not have been easy and personally I just cannot imagine the grief and pain of him and so many others. But it has shaped our nation, and for the better.

Yep! That's not only sound advice, but service was always the primary message in Jesus' life. He said to His disciples, after washing their feet, said, " if I your Lord, wash your feet, shouldn't you wash your brother's feet." John 13. He came not to be served, but to serve. It's an inspiration to see people use their gift in service. Beautifully written Wendy, blessings Roy

To ease the burdens and cares of another is the way of Christ. Somehow we've gotten away from these commands and it may explain why our world has become so dark. Sin is burdensome too and sin is only taken care of in Christ. To me, Christ is the answer because He makes us new inside.
Thank you for sharing the need and a viable solution.
Send you my best today as always.

WOW! What a remarkable young man. He's certainly made a difference, and it's astounding that one so young could accomplish all that. Hopefully, he will inspire others to do the same.

Thank you Verna. Super review. Yes, he is inspirational. He would have been extremely busy at the hospital as Covid was getting under way, and he and others were also exposing themselves to risk with their street clinics. I might add that to my story.

Dear Wendy, Thanks for making us aware of this amazing young man. In the UK recently I have met two astonishing women: one, Anne-Marie, founded a world-wide organization for the abolition of FGM, and received her OBE recently, the other, Samara, who set up a charity to take clothing to widows and orphans in Syria - and build health centres - at present reaching three quarters of a million internally displaced people have beenimpacted. And I forgot my disabled friend Kristen who just got the BEM for setting up the Food Bank centre in Borehamwood. But to hear of a man who has achieved (or certainly will) so much at the age of 23 is off the scale! I enjoyed your piece so much, I read it twice. It is a great tribute. Thank you.

Wow, thank you Paul. Those sound like fascinating stories. I am focussing on Australians at present, particularly lesser known ones. However those stories you mentioned intrigue me so I will google to find out more. Thank you for a super review, and an interesting and informative one.

Thanks for your response, Wendy. When I was teaching in my last school, a ten year old boy brought in his great-grandfather's Victoria Cross! I'm glad no one else knew what it was worth. I nearly had kittens. The relevance of this is that it was one of only 14 Australian VCs won in the First World War. The soldier's name I don't recall, but he was a New Zealander by birth. If I can find the details I will let you know. If you are a cat lover, watch out for my cat Charlie. He is quite a character! Best, Paul
