Thank you for sharing your story. You do a good job taking the reader through from the beginning, the anxiety of waiting, the obstacle thrown in the way with the mother, and finally the release of the wedding and marriage. Lovely story.

What a great story! If this isn't the winner I'd demand a recount...
(That seems to be a "thing" these days with voting ~ but I'm joking)
You have a few "evil eddies" we call them:
Those odd little characters that appear when you use a quotation mark or other punctuation, such as in:
"We meet every day for a week �¢?"<<< (grrr)
It's a pain in the behind, but easy enough, I guess to go back in and edit them out one by one.
This is a glitch in the system and it's not been ironed out -- ever!
Also, in the very first two lines you seem to say the same thing in a slightly different way:
"The Fall of 1982 was the best time of my Life"
AND
"The best time of my life was the fall of 1982."
These are minor glitches that in no way detract from the fact that (in my opinion) this is by far the best story in the contest!
