This was hysterical. I remember when Trump was elected. How many people said they were leaving for CANADA. They are still here. Empty threats from voters, empty promises from those elected. Never ends. Gretchen

Yes, we often threaten, but rarely follow through. Thank God we most often do not get called out on our empty threats and have to step up. Thank you for a wonderful review.

Yes, sir, foolish people have a tendency to always think that the grass is greener on the other side, until they get there. But it never takes them long to figure out their mistakes. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for your review. I pointed out in an earlier response to a review. These guys had better be glad they did not pull that stunt during the McCarthy Era. Lots of talented people lost their careers from accusations of ties to Communisms

Thanks for sharing the image, story, and notes, nomi. You did a good job with it, and your story illustrated the point in your notes very well. You begin with a good introduction and the infamous tee shirt. The one way tickets are a sure give away to their fate. I would imagine that there have been some people who actually did this. Everything looks so great with the tickets and the wining and dining. Little did they know! They are very lucky that the Ukrainians not only took them in, but also were able to get back into the U.S. I imagine their sentiments drastically changed once they got back home.
I enjoyed your story; thanks for sharing it.

Thank you for an awesome review. Some do not register the details of what they read and come away with an unclear idea of what was actually intended. You, on the other hand paid attention, and I appreciate that.
-
You are very welcome. I love reading and I taught high school English for 29 years so it is ingrained to read what is written and share thoughts about it. It's one of the things I enjoy about this site. I guess the tee shirt was an actual thing. I can't imagine wasting money on it😊
-
I first saw it on the internet and could not believe my eyes. That an American citizen would have the nerve to be seen is such a shirt. I thought about the McCarthy Era where the careers of very talented people were ended because of accusations of ties to communism.
-
Thanks for sharing about it. There is a reminiscent feel to the era you speak of with this particular action and sentiment described on the garment.

Oh my goodness what a story!!!
Oh dear not noticing that their tickets were one way...really..
I also thought at the very beginning that they were printing those t-shirts to perhaps sell them and give them away....
Just a random thought...
Good story,

Hello Lisa, and welcome to the family. Yes we here are a family. I am impressed by your paying attention to the details. many do not. They come away with an unclear idea or impression of what was written. Thank you for a fine and appreciated review.
-
Oh, I am one for detail detail detail...
I only said something because I liked your story and thought it could be even more interesting.

Yes indeed take care what you wish for. These guys never realised what they were saying before they met the reality. They were lucky to get out of it in on piece. Ulla:)))

It is far better to be lucky than good. They would have learned to regret their rashness in supporting Russia over the United States. They actually acted in a treasonous way. They were lucky to not have been alive during the McCarthy Era,. They would certainly have seen some heat, perhaps even jail time.

Oh, if only, we could send busloads of Dems to Putin and friends to awaken them to the reality that communism is a grand idea with no chance of achieving what they propose/

I think the greatest gift God has ever given to man is the denial of some of his most foolish wishes.
-
Humbling when he allows such things to take place though.

Hi there,
Well, this is one of those notions of 'be careful what you wish for'. Folk have a tendency of doing, writing, or saying things without really thinking through meaning and ramifications.
good little piece

Thank you. In a prior response to another reviewer I wrote. One of God's greatest gift to us, is his saying no to some of our most stupid and thoughtless requests.

Yes, I don't think they would wear such way out t-shirts if they knew what may happen to them. You've painted a great fictional thing here, I'm glad I live in Australia, we aren't so politically inclined, more passionate about sport here, it's their God. Beautifully written Nomi, blessings Roy

Nolan,
This is truly a great story of irony and near-tragedy for these men.
You tell the story well, in sardonic style, and I hope it touches people's' consciences to be more vigilant at the polls.
Good luck, Nolan.
Blessings,
Cindy

Thank you Cindy. It is a lesson even to me. Be aware of what you ask for, is it really what you want?

What a great story well told! And so pertinent given the sort of negativity and discontent around, whether on social media or on the streets. I won't mention any one figure in particular! But well done for having the imagination and skill to make a very strong point here! Thanks for sharing. Debbie
