Hi Sally,
Well, you're keeping this shooting a huge secret. Nobody caught? Who is the shooter? Maybe someone that Farnsworth hired for FEE? Sounds like Hank is lucky to be alive. I should think Sally better be careful after intimidating FEE recently.
I liked the idea that Simon is taking on his mother's maiden name, so it will be Simon and Candace Cole. And Danny Cole, too.
In the last portion of the chapter, you've moved the story two seasons ahead, autumn and winter... Christmas is coming. It might be a nice present for Betty Jo to find Hank out of his coma, the next miracle.
Nicely penned!
Hugs,
Kimbob

A nice connection with a poignant back story. An early forshadowing: "I promise to hold your hand through life, and never let you go--no matter what." "You are very versatile. You even know flight dialogue! This is a delicious simile: "It's like Mardi Gras in your mouth," the governor lauded. "Come on, let's get you situated and introduced to Louisiana cuisine." This smells like a strong
foreshadowing: "Functional footwear's important for a detective, as one never knows what a day will hold."
You pull us into a new plot. Great foreshadowing throughout. Ihave to give you another A+

Wow! Everyone seemed so happy and in love an then the unthinkable happens just as Betty Jo is getting her first impressions of life in Louisiana. Hank's injury is serious he is still in a coma it seems. I'm anxious to see what comes next.

Oh Sally, how very sad that Hank Riley was shot. The story ended last time with the ring and promise, and then it became Betty Jo's vigil by his side. That's one thing about your books. You never know what twists will come up.

I was really glad to see Candace and Simon show up to see the pitiful couple in the hospital.

Enjoy the rest of your week, Sweet Lady,
Hugs,
Rhonda

Wow! What a creation you have given us. Such complex yet eminently readable prose, the narrative driving on brilliantly. I love the sense of threat and risk contained herein.

Everything was going super sweet until Hank's shooting which was very unexpected and very dramatic. I have to ask: what is a binkie? It's not a term I am familiar with. Well done.

Good to see Preston back! And of course, Nurse Debi Marquette!
In fact, hubby and I are listening to your first book via Audible and you're right the reader is excellent!

I'm so sad that Hank got shot. I wonder who did that. Guessing this is yet another hurdle for love and faith to conquer.

You may have already fixed this before I got to reviewing:

I don't know who shot him, but it's not hard to guess who shot him. I'm betting he'll get his miracle. He's going to wake up with Betty Jo beside him, and they're going to catch Fee's flunky.

Thank you for the lovely review and insight. Yeah they?ll catch him. eventually. I?m not worried about that. Thanks so much for stopping by though. It?ll take a while to get it all together. Fee?s a slippery one, you know, and has lots of connections.

Sending you my best today as always.

I noted that nurse Debi Marquette came to prayer, a nice touch Sally. A surprise (to me) with Hank's shooting. A great chapter with many different emotions portrayed. Enjoyed it.
Cheers

I love how you describe the beauty of the sky in the first paragraph.
And the newlyweds seem so happy.
How cool is it that Jackson is flying the plane, especially the cool landing.

Oooh binkie's must be universal. My kids each started off with a blanket and was a binkie in no time.

Lol, Jackson is pretty romantic too.
As you can see I am writing my review as I read and how cool that the newlyweds will be staying at the Governor's mansion and that they will have new names. And new looks obviously for their new identities.

OMGosh I am enjoying Betty and Hanks part and Oh No!! I did not see that this part coming with the shot. How awful and scary, but thank you God and Sally (wink wink)that he is still alive. And so sad that it went on for weeks. ... No, it's months. Oh no please let him be ok!

And wow, I am back!! Lol, I never saw that coming either!

I hate that it is so long w him in a coma but hopefully with everyone supporting Betty and caring so much, he can hear from his coma. So glad that the gov escorted the kids back.
Wow! What a chapter. Now I know what you meant this morning.
This was a very sad one but terrific, nonetheless. Totally enjoyed it and feel like I should be really praying for Hank. Lol.
Thanks Sal, as this was phenomenal. I loved it, even as sad as it was.

Awesome job, my sweet friend!
