An excellent series. Growing up on a farm, my family listened to Chicago's WLS. He listened to the radio in the barn while he was doing the milking and other chores. Farmers benefited from stations like KFKF that were Farmer Friendly. I know my dad liked the farm news. and the music was the kind that appealed to the rural audiences. Field was really onto something. It's interesting that he capitalized on the interest in his radio station by giving tours and setting up cabins and other attractions. I can see how the interest boosted his seed business. The name Field is familiar. There must still be a seed company by that name. Very interesting series of articles. judi

Shall we call this the game of seducing the audience that the radio stations engaged legally? Here is a pancake and a chance to choose us. Thank you for sharing and good luck with your writing.

It's amazing what radio stations did for artists back in those days, they were the difference between being heard and absolute obscurity. Field was quite a cluey entrepreneur, great article Brett, well done blessings Roy

This is a fascinating article about how an entrepreneur can grow a business and keep on expanding it in many directions. I am eager to learn how this is connected to the Grand Ol Opry.

It's amazing what media can do. Thank you for sharing this with us. I am enjoying reading about this radio station and how it supported so much. It's rural and agricultural feel appealed to so many.

I loved the overtly rural and agricultural feel to Field's station. I can just imagine people tuning in to hear real news. Farmer Joe's cows all came down with spur milk. That sending a Shockwave through the listeners, but then being able to be soothed by the cornfield canaries. This was a very colorful piece. I enjoyed. Gretchen

So glad to read the latest instalment of this writing. Fascinating insight into American radio, completely alien to British people who just had the BBC and that was it.

So, as the radio station grew Field's business enterprises grew. Field's riches grew as well.
Thus, the beginning of Old Opry began Field's millions over time.
I love your attention to detail. Your story is well told and I am enthralled at how radio started a big enterprise to make riches quick.
