What a sad story you have penned in such a loving father being asked to choose between love of his blood and passion. You have presented it bravely and starkly, sadly. I hope your father is looking down on you now, wishing he had not been faced by such a dilemma. I have heard other cases of this, and think it is not as rare as we imgine. kay

VIRTUAL SIX STARS!

You are amazing and he is missing out! The same thing happened to my father as boy. It was around 1925 in Milos island, Greece. His mother died and he was five. He had an older brother and a younger brother. At young ages the new wife had his father keep them.on a ship they had. My dad used to describe a person even came on the ship to cut his hair and the woman raised her owb three kids.

She had been my Dads babysitter. His mother got to cut on her finger, sister was no penicillin she wouldn't let them cut it off. so that was my grandmother may I have and she died
strangely enough penicillin came out later the same year. I have 14 my dad and his brothers just went on the ships and stayed there. He spent his entire life as a merchant seaman, until he met my mom and settled down.

You're in good company. My Dad was a good man who cried for his mom all of.his life. He was hurt inside but he had empathy. He lived into his 100th year and his half siblings much older talk to his dad but never saw him again.

Blessings to all that you do, the path before you, and the world around you

Alex :))

Thank you for the virtual six stars and understanding. You are very kind to share your father's story with me. I know it happens to many children. At my age, I just started to deal with it. Big hugs, Alex. I appreciate that you took the time to read and review my poem.

Such a poignant tale, probably relatable to many. You infuse this with a whole range of emotions and the nagging realization that the writer lost her father twice. Brilliantly written.

This is an absolutely beautiful poem about your daddy, your fallen hero. Many girls in this life never had a father they could they could look up to as big their heroes. I had that kind of father that I could not look up to because of his abuse of my mother and us children. I enjoyed this very much. Patricia.
