Hi Debi,
This is a well rhymed poem about a topic that should never happen. Spousal and child abuse is a hard truth in this world. It is sad that some see death as the only way out. You're notes also show that abuse can actually cause sickness that brings on death. Her husband should be charged with some kind of murder.
Sorry for your loss
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Joan

Thanks Joan for you compassionate comments for this poem for my friend. It was a hard one to write and I feel as long as I stay so angry with Jim it will be hard. Hopefully I can get thru that before next year's write. Thanks again my sweet and caring friend.

I'm thinking of you dearly as I read this. Many abusive men target the baby in the womb when they hit the expectant mom. They can't stand the thought there would be something taking her attention away from THEM. This is a poignant tribute.

Dearest Debi, what a heartbreaking story. Oh my
gosh, it is so sad. A lot of
girls/women are coerced into
having an abortion. The prochoice crowd tries to
forget that. Bless her heart
and soul. Thank you for
penning her story. Many
blessings to your kind heart

Hi Regina, you can't possibly know how much your compassionate comments meant to me.
I don't know if you remember, but it was our posts that got us started as such good friends in the first place. Then you wrote me the first poem called Debi, and that meant so much to me. Yes, my friend. You are the best. But I thank you for looking at this one too, as we do share that bond. My friend thanks you too. Thank you and I really appreciate the honor of your six stars and your kindness, my friend!

Hey Debi, I know this one was tough to write and the emotion blood out onto the screen. It was so sad, but Jane is blessed to have a friend who will celebrate her and commemorate her. It is incomprehensible to caring people that somebody could throw away a child. A child that many couples would give everything they have to receive.
Mom was right, she told me many years ago, "Debi cares about and for everybody!"

You are most assuredly welcome my dear sister.
I just got word in my messages that my poem has been "recognized." It's also tied for first place in the contest. You know I don't publish much so I'm just excited when something good happens. I blame you for this because I wasn't anticipating submitting it. But, you encouraged me. Thanks sis. Praying for your surgery results.

Hey, anything to keep you around. And when you are that good. You really should be entering. Good for self esteem and a couple extra dollars here and there.

I thought I?d send you a copy of something I just posted on my profile thoughts:

    Dr. Nad: WOW! 6/12/23
I hardly know what to say, but it probably doesn?t matter, because I doubt if anyone will ever read this. I?m crying as these words are flowing onto the screen.
The blame for this contest win, falls squarely on the shoulders of my FanStorian sister. (AND YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!)
I have been very reluctant to submit my work for a long time as a matter of fact, this was my second submission since September 11, 2021. (Something devastated me with my last submission and I have told nobody about it.)
I saw this contest, and I reluctantly reached out to her and asked her opinion as to whether or not, I should submit an entry. (actually, I guess I was a little boy at heart seeking affirmation from my triplet sister. I already knew what her answer was going to be, because she had been urging me for a while to get back in the pool.

    ?SUBMIT IT?

    ?I DID?

    ?YOU VOTED?

    ?I WON?

    Thanks 🙏 everyone! - 2 minutes ago

It's asad story of domestic abuse, even to the point of forcing Jane to have an abortion, which is supposed to be there for a woman's
choice. I hope he has paid a price not just your friend. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for sharing this and honoring your friend. I can feel the anger in the piece. I'm so sorry for your loss. Reading this broke my heart. She sounds like she was a wonderful person to think about reaching others through your gift of writing.

Oh, Debi, this is heartbreaking to read and yet, we must not forget those who have been abused and abandoned. You honor her request with this poem. God bless you for it.

Wow, this is a beautiful poem on a terribly difficult subject. I'm so sorry for your loss of a friend, and for Jane's sadness. Thanks for sharing her story and for writing against abuse. I can't imagine the pain she felt in giving up her child. Blessings. Carol

Powerful piece. Beautiful in its melancholic way. I applaud you for you rhyme scheme, with its short phrases it lent to the lamenting tone for me personally. There were a couple instances where the phrase felt like an incomplete thought that may have needed a pronoun to clarify The Who but overall well done!

Thank you Alina for reading and reviewing. I need you to be a little more clear on the parts you think I should change. You didn't give me much to go on, but I take feedback very serious. Since this has made it to number one, most have thought it was done very well. But I will look at at any recommendations you make. Thank you in advance.
reply by Alina Clemens on 09-Jun-2023
Yeah of course! It was nothing major, I think it was just the line ?You were so cruel ~ was your sex tool? with the first part referring to the abuser and then the second part switching to refer to the narrator it felt like clarification such as ?[I] was your sex tool? would help distinguish who was the subject of the action.

,Thanks Alina and I will see what I can do about that. Thanks again dear friend
