Janet,
Congrats on your first place finish in the Musical Instrument(s)
Contest. Your love of all string instruments shines through in this brilliantly written rhyming poem. The rhymes are beautiful and flow well. Well done.
While your title speaks to your Baby Grand, the theme of the poem appears to be focused on stringed instruments and therefore the final stanza seems to be a last minute addition that is out of sync with the imagery of the poem. I would suggest you revised the poem to end with the 5th stanza.
All the best,
Eugene

Thought I would spend the couple of free minutes I have this morning to venture into you poems..
Came across this lovely one... Wow, to find a prize in a thirft shop is always wonderful.
When i turned 50 I began to take piano lessons for the first time - I had never touched a piano before.
So that has been my love for 25 years ( well second love as Bob is my first)
We have a baby grand Steinway... brought it from the states to Spain 3 years ago.

Thank you Lisa for this wonderful review.
I am impressed that you started piano lessons at 50. That is amazing and worth celebrating with baby grand Steinway. I am jealous. (smile)
Interesting that my first love's name is Bob too. Another thing we have in common.

I like this poem very much. I can't play any instrument but that doesn't stop me from listening to others and feeling it in my bones. I like fiddle music best because I'm a big folk music fan, but I also enjoy piano, and classical music as well as many other kinds. Good luck in the contest.

I like the rhythmic pattern you use in the poem. The poem flows along. I love how you used the violin section to be your subject matter. Best of luck in the contest.

I like the simplicity of this picture. I like how you describe your baby grand: Its smooth design is made of wood. Its beauty fully planned." Well said.
I also like the clause ( that speak without a word.) of the following paragraph; From classical to western songs, the fiddle can be heard.
I love these instruments with strings that speak without a word.
Thanks for sharing

You can feel the love you have for these instruments as you describe how to play them nd the way the sound when they are being played. I can almost hear the notes.

I always regretted not having learnt to play the violin (or the saxophone for that matter). I stopped at the piano, but wish I could play lots of instruments now that I'm retired. Your poem just intensifies my desire. kay

The violin is music to my ears and such a delicate instrument that plays outstanding. It's beautifully written. I have enjoyed reading it. Thank you for sharing! Good luck on the contest!

Your poem was fun to read, Janet,. The flow was smooth,
the rhymes worked well, and the words were descriptive.
I liked the informative description of the stringed instruments.
Your notes added another layer of info. Then, the twist at
the end was great.
Thanks for sharing and best wishes in the contest, Jan
